I finished my application package and just yo make sure I called and immigration consultant to proofread it before it was submitted. He took my money and asked me if I would like him to be my represenative , it wasn't that much extra so I agreed. He said that i would get a number in about a month. After 6 weeks i went him a text saying I havnt received anything yet and asked if it was submitted. His reply was yes. Well that was September 1 - still nothing . I get a message the other day asking for proof of the applicants sole custody document proving she can travel with her child. I referred her to an article by Ukraine law which states that the birth certificate in fact shows she is has sole custody. My question is this, if cic would have opened our application wouldn' t they have sent me a confirmation as my email is listed on the application. Something seems fishy almost like it hasn' been submitted yet and hes is lying about doing so.

If youre concerned you can cancel your representative. There is a form in the cic website to do so. Once this is done you have full access to your file. The information would have been sent to your representative. Id continue to reach out to him

I also asked my rep for my uci # and he said we won't get that number until the request for sole custody document is handed in.

They would have a file number at least if theyre asking for more info. Id ask for it asap

No, IRCC won't send you anything. You really should have looked into this before agreeing to this person being your representative.

When you appoint a representative:

• you also authorize IRCC and CBSA to share information from your case file with this person in place of you. Please note the representative will receive all correspondence from IRCC or the CBSA, not the applicant;

If you don't trust this person, then remove them as your representative.

how do they expect to tie it to your account without a file number -- fire him ASAP

I feel stuck between a 'rock and a hard place' if i fire him now and he hasn't handed in my file I have to print off all the applications again because she might just tamper with the files. Also he made about 5 changes that I did wrong and I don't know what they are. I was thinking after i get my numbers of firing him.

You should have your file number by now if you submitted it sept 1. It takes 6-8 weeks and youre well beyond that. Go to the reps office and demand the information. They cant tamper with your file if theyve sent it as it has to be physically mailed in

If this representative is telling you that CIC is asking for proof of sole custody of the child, then he/she indeed does have a file number. For him/her to refuse to give you that information is against the law. You can fill out and send directly to CIC a 'Cancellation of Representation' form and all future inquires will be sent directly to you. If you are worried about getting it tied to your UCI # then call the 800 number and inform the representative of the current situation with your rep and that you would like to send in a cancellation form but lack the UCI. They will provide you, the sponsor with your number.
