HI,

I received my ITA on October 4th and I recently found out that the ITA is the notification after which a person must get the medical exam done within 30 days.

I have been searching on the forums and it seems like the medical exam fees is a lot in California. I will be going to India in Mid November and the exam will be cheaper there in my home town.

Should I delay the medical exam? Will it create a problem with my application?

I am kinda confused because nowhere in my ITA says that I need to get the medical exam done within 30 days and on the CIC website, it says that if I don't get an upfront medical exam, they will send me instructions on how to get the medical exam and I must go for the medical exam within 30 days of receiving those instructions. Also, it says that they will send me form IMM 1017E if I don't get an upfront med exam. I have neither received the form nor the instructions.

Also, is there a helpline number that can connect me to them if I am in the US? the number on their website only allows Canadian numbers :(

Kindly advise.

Thanks!

You are going to do an upfront medical exam (i.e. do it before they ask). Therefore, forget about the 30 days, instructions and IMM1017E as you do not need any of them. You can do it anytime anywhere before your ITA expires as long as you find a panel physician to do your medical exam:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/pp-md/pp-list.aspx

NOTE: usually, you need to make an appointment for these exams and it may take a long time to get an appointment especially for cheap places. I recommend you to find one and make an appointment as early as possible.

Thanks for replying. But I am still confused..so they will not send me any notification for medical exam? Also, My ITA expires on January 3rd 2018. I am currently in the US and the exam cost $375 here but I will be going to India next month for 2 weeks to meet my family and hoping that the exam will be cheaper there. So, if I do the exam there, it should be okay, right?
