Does anybody know what usually happens for unemployed status in the work history? I have been unemployed for some time and staying with a friend in his place. How does it go? What does IRCC do for such status applications?

You simply list the period of unemployment and where you lived during that time. No need to list a contact number or email.
If you question is how you will be treated during your application: You are not treated differently than anyone else. Your right to citizenship doesn't depend on your financial situation.
Being employed is not a requirement for citizenship, but it might raise questions about whether or not you were actually in Canada or not. At worst, the officer might spend extra time validating your travel dates. Either way, just be honest in the application.
nothing will happen, its not determination factor to be employed, me too no employment during my whole eligibillity since OCT 2012-present due to disaster accident at work but listed my disabillity caseworker office and phone. If they reject my app due to disabillity they will get sued as a direct breach of human rights. As long as u r honest u will be fine.
