CIC Redundant Request for Information

Hello all,

I recently submitted completed application for EE, this was submitted on 27 August. I received the AOR the same day of application submission. This is a joint application along with my wife.

During the filling of form, I had provided detailed travel history for both of us however, today I received request from CIC to again provide the same information for my wife only (I guess).

Following is the text in the letter

Dear My Name,


This is in reference to your application for permanent residence in Canada. In order for us to continue the review of your application, we require the following documents:


 123456 - Wife's Name:
 Travel History Info Form: Information on your previous travel history (trip duration and purpose)


including citizenship and resident document information.


 Your Travels: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM5562E.pdf
Please upload these documents to your MyCIC account by: 2017/09/14.


Please note:
The above information/documents must be received within 7 days from the date of this correspondence. If this deadline is not met, your application will be assessed based on the information that was provided with your application and your application could be refused.

Not sure why they would ask for this information again. Also looking at the letter it looks like that they are only requesting this information for my wife. Am I correct in my understanding?

Travel History is a common request. You might have made mistakes in the application that you didn't realise or IRCC might have found discrepancies somewhere in your travel history, e.g. dates don't match, etc.
Just make sure you fill out the form carefully and you should be fine.

I'd assume the request is for both of you. But I'm single so don't take my word for it.

Thanks for replying. I am pretty sure that I didn't make any mistakes. However I didn't include the trips between my country of citizenship and country of residence which I clearly explained in the Letter of Explanation that I uploaded along with my application.

I did however upload all stamped pages from the passport. Do you think we should include details of those trips as well?

I had included all the information but as my application is not approved I cannot comment. However I would say that its kind of confusing and have heard people going both ways and getting their applications approved. If you did not include it initially and they have requested for more information then I would say to go ahead and do it. I think I can conclude now that it all depends on reviewer. Doesn't harm to provide extra information.

Thanks for replying. I was thinking the same but it is going to be too difficult to trace all our trips in these years. It becomes even more difficult without stamps in the passport due to electronic immigration. I have a couple of days, will try to dig into all my emails to see if I can trace them but it goes back several years and is going to be incredibly difficult.

I think its better to include and thats the reason you got the ADR request.

That form, like the web form, clearly states you shouldn't include countries of citizenship and residency. Including them makes no sense. I don't think you should add those. Perhaps they system issues and are unable to view the entered data?

If in doubt, no harm in adding the additional data. If that is redundant or not required , they will just ignore it. But if at all it is required for any reason, then better be safe than sorry.

You can also include a brief explanation as well stating that the dates you listed are best effort given the lack of clear stamps etc in travel docs and little evidence you can find after all these years. I'm sure they will understand. I had to do likewise in recreating my and my spouse's travel history which turned out to be over 250 entries split between their online form and a lengthy spreadsheet that I created. Just give it your best shot and try not to miss anything.

That was my interpretation too and that's why I did not include those details in the original application.

You're right, the form also mentions the same thing. I don't see a reason why it should be included but I also don't understand why I received this request. I am very sure of them being included in my original application. In fact for some reason I also took a screenshot of that page in my application.

Thanks for the idea. I guess I can try and do that. I believe I will have similar number of entries as you.

Have a made travel to outside of Origin and Residence country after submitting the Documents (AOR)?

Thanks for your reply. Did they specifically request you for that? For me, it looks like they have specifically asked travel history for my wife (which was provided earlier as well) however, I am including detailed history for both of us, just to be on the safe side.

They asked the following information:

"Travel History Info Form: Information on your previous travel history (trip duration and purpose) including citizenship and resident document information."
I wonder what should be the "Citizenship and resident document"?
