Question while uploading FBI PCC

Hi All,

I had not received my FBI PCC when I submitted my PR application in July. I have now received a communication from CIC asking me to upload the FBI PCC document. When I click on the Upload button on my profile, it takes me to a page that is asking the following details:

1. Document Name
2. Document Number
3. Country of Issue
4. Document Date
5. Expiry Date

I am not sure what to fill in these fields. The FBI PCC does not have a specific Document Name or Number and specially does not have an expiry date. Has anyone else gone through this scenario? Would really appreciate if anyone could guide me through this. I have to submit the document by October 30, 2017. Would that be the expiry date?

If I remember correctly, other persons on this forum recommended just using 1 year from the date of issue as the expiry date...

There are different recommendations around. The key thing is that CIC knows local regulations (especially of a neighbouring country), and will therefore know that as the FBI doesn't stipulate an expiry date, the certificate will only become invalid the next time you travel to the US, because then it means that you'll have to get a new one.

Thank you very much for the response. My consultant wants to enter 6 months as the expiry date which is too close, so I was a little hesitant. I think I will go with 1 year.

Thank you very much. So I guess entering one year should not be a problem then. That will ensure that it falls withing the time that they need to process the application.

No problem.

I put down 6 months. If by some chance they come back to me and say that I need to upload a new certificate, I'll write them an LOE stating that the FBI has no stipulated expiry date of the certificate, and it will only be rendered invalid if I was to make another trip to the US since the issuance of the last certificate. Therefore, the certificate should remain valid.
