they assign an agent, they open the file and look through if the file is good, nothing missing etc. then they draft aor and send it to you
Yes, That is true. I wonder how many agents they have and they work on how many applications per day.

idk my app was received 20th ... hopefully we get our aors
I wonder if other applicants who submitted from july 10-15 already got.their AORs.. they havent update the timeline sheets.. if not yet, that means 1-2 more weeks for july 20s applicants..

it's actually more than just that. when an agent is assigned to your file, he is already beginning to check your eligibility as a sponsor in parallel to your package as being "complete." if anything is missing, for example, if you did not include NOA, then they check CRA if you ever pay your taxes. if not, they will ask you to send NOA, and not give you AOR.

AOR doesn't just mean they've opened your file, it means that you've indeed prepared a good case and that the sponsor is in good faith to proceed with the sponsorship.

an applicant i think she's filipino their app was received 11 or 12 got aor yesterday

I just called IRCC regarding the status of my application and the agent said they are processing June 27th applications, which is a bit odd because some people in July got their AOR. So my guess is if you haven't received your AOR yet be patient, there are good chances that they haven't open your package yet. My application was received on July 14th.
They will almost always say that they're processing applications from 2 weeks before the day you call them. They are customer service representatives who, many times, just want to 'get rid' of the people who's calling, it's standard procedure to tell little lies to ease the customer's mind. It is a fact that they are processing July applicants now, you can verify yourself that you were sorta lied to. And honestly, we can expect long delays, they are not doing it fast enough recently. I saw people from a few months ago getting AOR's in 3-4 weeks, it was common back then. Now it's at least 5 weeks for us. You have to be patient, there's no other way to do this. I hope you get AOR next week, at the latest, I think your chances for it are high.
Good luck!

There are lots of people who don't follow this July thread. Some only follow the main, spousal sponsorship thread. And of course, some are not even on this forum. My file was received on July 26th, I'm thinking the first week of September I might get AOR, and I feel like it's unlikely that I will get it the last week of August. I sincerely hope no one gets it sent back because of outdated forms. If we do, it will be a shame, since I've seen threads with people who were on the same boat as us, and they just got emails from CIC to mail them the updated forms, they didn't get the applications returned.

Once you (the Prinicipal Applicant) have made an account and linked your application there will be a "View Submitted Application" option at the very bottom left hand side of the Application/Profile Details page... you can upload there
