i dont think anything will stop you from that except that u need prepare a good anwser to the officer in the aeroport who will ask you for the purpose of ur visit
Just to add to the earlier answer, as a UK citizen you won't need to apply for a visitor's visa. There is a visa waiver scheme in place which basically allows you to visit Canada for up to six months.
My experience tells me that you will get lots of questions at border control.

My wife is from the U.S. and we got married in Canada. She went back to the U.S. a couple of weeks after the wedding to apply for the P.R. When she crossed the border, she just told immigration officer that she was coming to Canada to see her boyfriend and to enjoy a vacation. I don't see why you would need to tell the officer you're coming to Canada to get married.

Yes, in theory, you can come to Canada and marry. You don't need a visa because you are exempt being a citizen of the UK. If all things are okay at the port of entry, they will stamp your passport and allow you to stay for 6 months. If they are suspicious or leery, you might get a shorter time here. I agree with what the others said... don't give the officer your life story. Say you are coming to visit your fiance and his family, and plan on returning to the UK after a couple months.

It won't be a problem if you say you are coming for vacation, and later get married. Just keep your status up to date as long as you are here. You need to look on the website of the city you intend to marry. The "Clerk's Office" will have the details on it. Most of the time, you just need identification for the marriage license- most cases you need your original birth certificate and a government-issued photo ID, most likely a passport. If you have been married (and divorced) in another country, you need an opinion letter from a Canadian lawyer saying that the divorce is legit (well, there's more to it but that's the basics).

If you are asking if it makes a difference in how quickly the application is processed depending on where you get married, then my answer is it doesn't matter where you get married, as long as you have the marriage certificate and other proof of the the marriage.
If you are asking about processing times-
If you get married and stay in the UK, and submit your application from OUTSIDE Canada to Mississauga, and then to the London office, it will most likely be around 9 months before you are able to come to Canada as a Permanent Resident.
If you get married, and stay in Canada or come to Canada, and submit your application INSIDE Canada to the Case Processing Centre in Vegreville, Alberta, it will be about 6-8 months until you are able to work in Canada, and anywhere between 9 to 18 months (maybe longer, maybe shorter) because you become a Permanent Resident.

I'm from the U.S and I flew into Canada in December to marry my husband-to-be... when the customs official asked the purpose of my trip I simply said with a smile that I was getting married... she asked me if my husband was Canadian and I said yes... and I had no problems getting through, of course I also supplied my flight itenary with my return flight's date marked so there was no question of my return. I came back home and now we're in the process of completing our VISA application paperwork.
