Hi astral,
Hope you had a great weekend.

Considering government jobs, I'm also working as a doctor in a government hospital here in India. What are the chances that IRCC finds me worth more deep checking since it's a government job?

BTW, my job is not, in any way, like that they might consider me dangerous!
@jpv2212 since you were a doctor, it is not a government job meaning you werent dealing with government issues, you can be calm. It would be different if you were a "government clerk"!

Canada has a shortage of doctors! Once you spend the next few years passing all your exams, you are going to be rolling in money @jpv2212 ! :)

Usually, between 2 days and a maximum of 2 weeks. Do you have travel history?

Is there a definite correlation between extensive travel history and delayed processing times, or more specifically being chosen for security screening? I have read in other threads that even people who have never travelled outside their home countries have been waiting for many months to get their PPR email. Also, it would be interesting to know if they have a list of countries that raise a red flag if you travel there. I have an extensive travel history to US, Europe, Africa and Asia because of work and leisure, so am a little bit concerned about this. Any more insights from the experts would be really helpful.

So my background check changed from Not applicable to "We are processing your application. We will send you a message once we start your background check".
What does this mean from a processing stage perspective? Will they now start my R10 check? I passed my medicals.

Things that affect security screening are the following:-

1 - Travel History to safe countries usually isn't a big deal. It just delays it slightly for the added time taken to check with the those countries if required. USA and Canada have intelligence sharing so it's a matter of checking off on US criminal database etc.
2 - Travel to unsafe countries are usually the ones with civil unrest, war, lack of stable government, governments with strong links to terrorism etc. Travel to those countries could add to the timelines if they decide to do deeper checks. Also, if you are a citizen of any of these countries, you can anticipate delays. Not all nationalities are treated equal when it comes to security checks so your nationality does make a difference.
3 - They are pretty experienced to check for red flags. Unexplained frequent trips to a war torn country will raise suspicion compared to tourist visits to a country in Europe.
4 - Previous government, military or police department experience does increase security screening. Government, military or police work in a war torn or a country associated with terrorism - God help you.
5 - Finally the IRCC blackhole. The unexplained. Sometimes we see applications delayed for no reason really. It only takes an officer to put you into a deeper security check for whatever reason. It's not common but it does happen sometimes. They do not have the time or the resources to put every single applicant into deep security checks so they use their experience or anything they find suspicious to put you in a "spin". The deeper checks which take months!

Not necessarily. I am based in Dubai and processing times are all between 90 to 110 days. Not all islamic countries are built the same way. :) But then again, most of us here are expats and we are not nationals here.

That's amazing! Nature is relaxing and indeed even more if your application is on track;):D, I am also planning a trip with family in order to pass this dreadful wait time. i think i might write a post on 1000 ways to pass time while CIC takes its sweet time to process our applications:rolleyes:.JK.
Thanks for confirming our views.:)

That would be a great idea. I predict it would be a best seller among these forums..

Hahahhh.. At present, I'm just hoping they recognise my degree and at least give me a job which may be, to some extent, relevant or suitable to my education & expertise.:)

On another note, CIC has issues with Abu Dhabi VO as this is the VO that has consistently got the maximum number of applicants who let their PR lapse. They cannot do anything about it since everyone has the right to apply for PR but ADVO has consistently been the VO with the maximum number of lapsed PR. People apply and do a soft landing and then sometimes never go back! The sunshine and tax free income VS Survival jobs in the snow is a hard one to crack for many! LOL

You will have to study and pass multiple exams for sure! They ain't going to let u practice with what you currently have for sure. I have friends who are doctors and all they do till the ripe age of 40, is study constantly! LOL

Thanks for giving reassuring reply.
No, in this nation, by God's grace (or may be government's!;)), we doctors need not deal with governmental issues. In fact, in clinical practice, a doctor even can't deal with his own personal/family issues, due to lack of time! Other issues are just out of question!:p

Anyways, let's hope they continue this trend of speeding the processing up.
Cheers!

Yeah once to Australia, on businesses, that too 4 years ago.
