Hello all ,

My situation is this, I and my family are outside Canada, I have not complied 2/5 obligation and so my minors. But is it possible to apply for them for citizenship as new rules they don't need parents to be citizens. And if yes how? Thanks for the inputs

They would still need to meet the RO for citizenship. If they don't meet it for their PR, they certainly won't meet it for citizenship.

They never need to stay in Canada even before the new rules to become Canada citizen as their dependants comply PR obligation

Not quite following.....Are your children in Canada now or have they been living with you out of Canada? How old are they? They still need to meet RO.
C-6 doesn't exempt them from the requirements, it just allows them to gain citizenship without parental consent before reaching the age of majority.

Permanent Resident status
Regardless of your age, if you are applying for citizenship, you must have:

Your PR status must not be in question. This means you must not:

  • be under review for immigration or fraud reasons
  • have certain unfulfilled conditions related to your PR status
  • be under a removal order (an order from Canadian officials to leave Canada)
You don’t need a valid PR card to apply for citizenship. If you have an expired PR card, you can still apply for citizenship.

First of all, thank you for your interest. Kids are 9 and 13. They live outside Canada with us. So our normal plan is when they turn 17, get prtd for h&c reasons. But my question is if they can get citizenship without those procedures according to new rules for minors.

No they can't. They must live in Canada 3 years before they will qualify to apply for citizenship.

And of course your kids getting PR TDs and keeping their PR status will probably not help you or your wife to get PR TDs or keep your own PR status. So if they intend to permanently live in Canada at that point, it will be on their own or with a friend/family member who's already a resident of Canada.

How about moving to Canada and meeting the RO you agreed to when you were accepted, rather than trying to screw the system. People like you are what makes a difficult process even more difficult for others who actually want to come and live here. For a surgeon, your ethics seem quite questionable.
