Finalllllly done, landing went smoothly. :)
Thanks to all on the forum for all your help through this process!
Hi Guys,

I am posting in the 2016 thread because there may be more people here that have been through this process then in the 2017.
I want to ask a question about getting the Medical exam done? I got my request last week and am having a hard time figuring out everything.

I was wondering if there was anyone on here that has had their medical done in Calgary? Where did you go? Did you have to go to two places to get different tests done? or was the tests done at the same place same time?

I made an appointment for a medical at one place and they want to charge $225 but they dont do urine, xray, blood test at their clinic! like then what am i paying for??? So think i will cancel that one...

Thanks in advance everyone! :)
Not in Calgary, Im in Newfoundland, there was only one place to go to in St Johns...exam and urine test done in house was $155, then they sent us with a request paper to the hospital to get the xrays $266, and the blood work $78. All was easy and very well handled. Guess everywhere can charge what they want, no set cost. Got med results back in less than 2 weeks.

2 weeks?! Hospital?! Ours was done on the Thursday before Easter, and we had results to CIC before the Wednesday following (Friday & Monday were holidays for them).

Yeah, the doctors and the clinics have pay scales. I suspect they are the same numbers that they would charge back to the government, if it was an insured person.

when I first heard we had to go to the hospital for the xrays/bloodwork, I thought oh great, an all day process, however we got in at the end of the morning rush and took maybe 1/2 hour, wasnt too bad.

See, you were paying "cash" :). We were done my wife's exam in about an hour. X-Ray took us right away. Most of the wait was at the lab...

actually we were billed for the xrays and bloodwork, recieved the bill about 2 weeks after. The exam and urine were cash upfront. The doctor in St Johns was great, spent most of the time filling out paperwork, less time with the exam. He did tell me that as soon as I walked through the door and the receptionist printed out the paperwork that my "30 day time limit" for completing the exam stopped, I found that helpful so as to not worry about if the results got turned in within that 30 day period.

I think they try to make sure that the same person examined by the doctor is the same person who has blood drawn and has an X-Ray. I am sure cases are rare where someone tries to switch out, but just in case, right?
yeah, that is true. When I was at the clinic, doctor was mad at the front desk girls because they didnt check properly the name on the ID and passport. Women had different last name because she got married. So she sent her home to get her marriage certificate and come back. She refused to examine her without that.

Yeah as soon as you go it stops. What I meant by "paying cash" is, they didn't have to bill the government and wait for payment.

The doctor in Kitchener sat there shooting the shit with us. It was funny when we got onto the topic of the company I work for. Then we had a discussion about how people (like pilots) actually age slower because of their distance from the ground. Broke his mind.... my wife thought he needed a reboot.

I neither have sponsor approval nor AIP. They asked for medicals again despite having done upfront medical. CSE responses take ages, hence I did medicals again today.

Now, I see that they have started processing June and July applications. Was hoping April applications would get completed by July'17. But it doesn't seem like I will be landing anytime soon.
same feelings here. I am April 1 applicant.

hi
Just got this email:
It has been determined that you meet the eligibility requirements to apply for permanent
residence as a member of the spouse or common-law partner in Canada class.

Any suggestions what will be the next step.
And how long it will take to get the final decision

Thanks,

gotcha! I see what you were saying.

Yes,, same with us, the doctor was so friendly and personable, was fascinated as to why I was in NFLD from Arizona, lol. ...How his daughter lives in the next town from us...Then him and hubby started talking about fishing...we all almost forgot what we were there for :) Made it so nice and easy.

Thanks,
This is AIP. Congrats. Next step: should be DM on the file. Any day now, they could contact you for landing (and decision made).

It's great when doctors are easy going :). I am not sure how many are like that. My wife did her medicals twice at the same clinic (the second time it was a redo -- we were out of validity for 3 months). But I have heard some good stories from several others about doctors in Toronto (and now NFLD).
