Original marriage certificate

Hello everyone,

Some gentleman pointed out that his application got rejected because he didn't upload an original copy of his marriage certificate, this got me worried, my marriage certificate is also stating that it's a certified copy, it's colored, ratified with stamps and signatures from all possible entities: court, ministry of justice and ministry of foreign affairs, would this be a problem to them?

I'm from Syria and you know that it's almost impossible to go back there to do anything, not to mention that I won't get an original copy, only a certified true copy.

Please help.

Thanks.

I would if I could, but I can't find the original one! This is absurd! if something happened to the original certificate people would get rejected!?
In my case I just applied for a new one, they gave me on the same day.

Explain it in LOE. Syria is a special case, I think they will understand that, I think they also have something on CIC website about getting police certificates from Syria and some other countries where that would be impossible to do. So don't stress, just upload what you have and give an explanation in the LOE. Also, if you live in a European country (maybe US as well), there is usually some process to have a marriage from another country locally registered...go to city hall or whatever the right authority would be and see if that is possible, then you could also upload whatever they provide you.

Upload the color scan of the one you have and explain it properly in LoE. You will most probably sail through. I dont think you have any other option friend.

Thank you, good thing my father got me a police certificate before leaving Syria like 6 months ago. I know I'm asking for much, but how do you write a LOE? Thanks again.

It is written on a plain paper explaining all the points which you want to explain connected with your eAPR. You have a seperate placeholder for uploading it.

I appreciate it, I hope that they will be considerate regarding this subject.

LOE = Letter of Explanation, when you submit the documents, there is a place where you can upload it. It does not need to have any specific format, just take a word document, title it Letter of Explanation, and explain anything you think worth explaining that they might otherwise question. So topic 1 would be Marriage Certificate and you just tell them why you do not have the original, that all you have is this certified copy and that for obvious reasons you cannot go back to Syria to try to procure the original. Then in that same document I would paste in a wedding picture or two to show them that you are really married. If you have something with a date on it, for example if you still have a copy of the wedding invitation or something similar, then paste that into the document as well and upload it all together. There is no page limit, so you can write as much as you want, it all just needs to be in one document because there is only one slot to upload anything.

I see, thank you very much for your kind assistance.
