Hi, my husband and I got married in march, in Canada Montreal , we are both originally from Morocco, but I am an American citizen too, and he is PR. I came back to USA and we didn't decide yet what is the best way to apply, we think if we apply inland it takes longer, se probably he will sponsor me Outland, but I am not sure if we can do that and at the same time stay with him in Canada until I get my permanent resident. I have another question about the police certificate, since I am living in USA do I haven to provide them with tow police certificates, one from My original country (which is hard to get ) or I can only send them one from USA, thank you guys for your help

My understanding is you need a police certificate from every country you have lived in for 6 mos or more. I think your wrong on applying inland is longer. Search for thread about Americans immigrating.

You do not need to provide all the police certs for places you lived six months or longer, unless they ask.

You will need to provide your country of citizenship police check. Because you have dual citizenship, I am not positive if you will have to submit both. My husband is from Ireland and we had to submit his Irish one and they asked for a Canadian one later as he has lived in Canada for the better part of nine years. He has lived in other countries but they did not ask us to submit it.

Inland and Outland applications are now both being process within 12 months for 80 percent of cases. The main difference between these two apps is the applicant can get an open work permit on the inland application.

However, US Outland apps generally go to the Ottawa visa office for processing and it's pretty speedy.

Hey there,
Actually the rules changed now and good news is that inland process should be of the same length as the outland process... As for the police certificate they may require both from you... Usually everyone on the forum says they ask for a police certificate for every country you have stayed more than 6 months...
Good luck to you!

Thank you so much, do we have to put the address in Canada instead of USA if we are applying Outland and I am playing to wait while I am living with him, or do I have to provide an US address? Also the medical checkup should I have it done in USA or I can do it in Canada ? Thanks

Thank you for some of your information. I recently sent in my application. I am a US citizen and I married my husband in Canada (Canadian citizen) in 2009. We have since lived in the US. But, now he is back living in Canada for work and I am trying to get my residency and work Visa for Canada.
You said it is about 1 year. That saddens me. I really thought it would be about 6 months. It only took 6 months for my husband's US Visa.

No, you don't need to put a US address if you are applying outland. Just use your Canadian address. You can do the medical anywhere as long as it is with a Panel Physician. Medicals do tend to be cheaper in Canada.

Outland American apps average about 4-6 months.

No need for the bold and italic.

So I've just re-read your first post and realized that you are Moroccan as well. Which country have you spent most of your life in? If it is Morocco, then it is very likely that your app would be sent to Rabat, not Ottawa.

It doesn't matter. IRCC can choose the VO for either of your nationalities. You are also a Moroccan citizen and lived there most of your life, so there is a definite possibility of the app going to Rabat.

Seriously, read the posts. OP is both Moroccan and American.
