I might get invited for a test and interview while abroad and will have to ask them for a new test date.

Anybody here who has been in a similar situation: how long did it take to get a new test date? Did this mean for your application that it ended up at the bottom of the pile?

I do not want to inform them in advance that I will be gone for the month of June. My application is in process since the 4th of April.

Thanks for your feedback
Stef.

That's a real bad idea. Technically, you are supposed to inform them if you will be gone for two weeks or longer specifically to avoid this situation. Missing a scheduled test date is grounds for further inquiry into you declared absences, etc. And could cause delays. Why don't you want to inform them you will be away?

I am here in this situation my friend ,, on 03/13/2017 I had my test date but I arrived late ,, so I was not allow in ,, and since then I am waiting my final retest ,,, call center agent confirmed that I am on a retest ,, but so far no updates about when will be my test ??? and I ordered ATIP since 04/20/2017 so far I did not get any response as well ,, I know I am still within the 30 days but it sound a bit fishy ,,

CIC officers looks like they are bosses themselves ,, they have no consideration for our life or time ,, which it can be seen as discrimination ,,,

like how dare you immigrant applicant, you arrive late or you will not attend your test cuz you are taking your vacation ,, how dare you ,, so we will show you

I agree with links18. Inform them of your month long absence...they will find out anyway once you take the test and they check your passport. And then you have some explaining to do ;) So IMO and as per CIC please declare your leave. I left for a longer vacation before I took the oath and informed CIC ahead of time. My application was processed smoothly.

O.k. so you all suggest to inform them before I leave and you do not consider this presumptuous? My husband who is Canadian by birth and lived here most of his life suggested not to inform them before I leave.

So better informing them ahead, than just asking for a new date?

I was not aware that we had to inform them about vacations but rather about other changes such as addresses. I am just thinking that they get swamped with messages re upcoming vacations and it might not even collide with my test date. If I am lucky and there is no update on my Eva's status the test might not be in June but rather July.

Also I thought it was the dates in and out of the country until the day of our application and not after? I have no problems with them asking me about stamps. What could be the problem?

Also, if I do so, is it best is via the web link? Or letter? I do not want to do both.
Thanks for your help! Very much appreciated.

Apologies...last question: could somebody please provide me with the link to CIC where it says we have to inform them about being away?

I just checked their website and can't find it. My husband's argument is, that the last thing CIC needs is for us all sending in our holiday plans.

Here is the link: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/citizenship/become-after.asp .... you will find it near the end of the page.
My husband is Canadian by birth as well and yes he has his opinions on how things should work in his mind but in the end I just followed the instructions from CIC and it worked well.
But of course in the end it is your decision what to do...either way I wish you the best for your application!

Yes the dates count until the day of your application and no the stamps wouldn't be the problem. What I could see happen is that if you actually do miss the test they would ask for reason and if you don't tell them then it would come out at the interview.... Maybe I am just overly cautious and you have your very own good reason not to disclose it to CIC.

I sent a physical letter to my processing office and also used the web form.
Thanks. I found it on your link.
How do you know which processing office? Any reason why you send a letter as well as the webform?
Thanks
Stef.

I am in Edmonton so it was easy as there is only one local office here...next would be Calgary. Just sent to both to be sure they got it but sending it via web form probably would have been enough :)

Thanks. I sent it via web form and will not send it via the normal post. Got a confirmation email which should suffice.
