That's super fantastic. I'm happy for you especially because your dad had to go through medicals.

As your dad (principal applicant) got his TRV, your mom will get a TRV too soon :)

Hi Bryanna,

Background:
I am now applying for my parents TRV, but I am thinking to apply Super Visa this time so that they can stay longer than 6 months... They had couple of TRVs before (first TRV was 6 month single entry and second was 10 years multiple) but they both expired as their passport expired and they got new passport... and obviously, I wasn't lucky to enough to be selected in PGP pool, so super visa it is for me... my parents have visited me 3 times and have always gone back in time...

Question:
1. Can they go to VFS office and submit Super Visa application under CAN+, what do they tell them for this? My parents have visited 3 times since 2007.
2. What documents do I need for Super Visa? I mean as sponsor letter? I don't have any specific event coming up but I just want to get the passports stamped so that they can come whenever they choose, what should I write?
3. I meet the minimum income requirements for last several years, do they also need to provide financial docs like regular TRV such as properties, networth certificate, bank statements etc.? It is not an issue but need to know if we still need to provide for Super Visa
4. For medicals, can it be done in advanced and send it along with the application?
5. Do they also need to provide business docs, etc that we need in TRV or is Super Visa is slightly different?
6. Lastly, for the insurance, I know that I have to send insurance proof along with the application but I don't know the exact dates when they will come maybe this year or next, so can insurance be purchased with tentative dates?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi Bryanna,

They can stay longer than 6 months on TRVs too by applying for extension to their visitor status.

1. Can they go to VFS office and submit Super Visa application under CAN+, what do they tell them for this? My parents have visited 3 times since 2007.
To the best of my knowledge, CAN+ does not work for super visas, but only for TRV applications. But, their previous visits will help for faster decisions.

2. What documents do I need for Super Visa? I mean as sponsor letter? I don't have any specific event coming up but I just want to get the passports stamped so that they can come whenever they choose, what should I write?
There are quite a few documents which you must submit as their host. Do check this link:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/supervisa-how.asp

You can simply mention that they would like to visit you.

3. I meet the minimum income requirements for last several years, do they also need to provide financial docs like regular TRV such as properties, networth certificate, bank statements etc.? It is not an issue but need to know if we still need to provide for Super Visa
For super visas, your financial documents matter more as the host.

But, yes, they must prove they have strong ties+ finances to return home to because super visas are temporary visas unlike PGPs.

4. For medicals, can it be done in advanced and send it along with the application?
Yes, upfront medicals are accepted by CIC.

5. Do they also need to provide business docs, etc that we need in TRV or is Super Visa is slightly different?
Yes, as many strong ties as possible for which they can provide evidence.

6. Lastly, for the insurance, I know that I have to send insurance proof along with the application but I don't know the exact dates when they will come maybe this year or next, so can insurance be purchased with tentative dates?
The insurance coverage must start from the date of their intended visit + they will need insurance coverage of minimum CAD 100,000 for each entry to Canada

Do check this:

Thanks Bryanna!

I will just ask my parents to mention CAN+ at VFS as I would want to do paper based application this time, online waiting is not healthy :)... Do you have any feedbacks from people what is moving faster these days online vs paper based?

If your parents has a steonger travel history, we can safely assume that they will get TRVs but there is no fix time frame of decision. Some applicants got visas within 14 days and some Applicants here on this forum are waiting from 60 to 130+ days. You need to be very patient and calm with these TRVs. Do keep us posted about updates.

Good luck with your parents applications.

Still no update. Do they receive alerts if anything changed during the Indian time or Canadian Time?
