I know the FSW counts continuous full-time experience of 1+year within the last 10 years

I was looking at the CIC website and noticed that the primary occupation is defined as Your primary occupation means the job you have experience in (within the last five years) and want to base your immigration application on, if you are invited to apply.

Anyone know if the full year of previous work experience has to be in the last five years, or as long as part of that skilled experience falls within the last five years? ie if the last time I worked in the particular NOC that I am thinking of using as my primary occupation was up to February 2012, would I still be eligible if I received an ITA before the end of Feb 2017?

Thanks for any help!

I choose my Canadian job experience for that even though I am working in a different field back in my country.

How? In fsw it is mentioned in the past 10 years
Yes, you get the points for the experiences you have gained in last 10 years varies between categories. But for the question posted on the top, in that field whatever experience you write has to be in last 5 years. It clearly states that.

You can claim points for the experience in last 10 years.
But for the PRIMARY OCCUPATION question's answer that experience must be in last 5 years. It is just a question you have to answer, there is no points difference if you have two experiences and you choose either one.

cross-checked CIC website and,
'primary occupation is one which you have done within last five years,on which the application to immigrate will be based on'
further one needs to have a minimum of 1 year continuous,full-time ,paid job in the chosen NOC code in last 10years to be eligible for immigration under FSW ...
however it can safely be implied that one need to have worked as recently as five years in the chosen occupation however the one year minimum experience criteria can be met from the preceding five years as well...

effectively someone with who was employed within five years, even if it was for a day (by definition) should be eligible...
my NOC primary experience ended on 2nd Feb2013 and I will be eligible to apply till 1st Feb 2018 ...
I hope so...
(As I have overall above 1 year experience

This is confusing. What if someone has experience from 2007-2010 and nothing after that? Then he cant apply for FSW?

One should have worked in his primary Occupation within 5 years of application...
in the said case,to file in 2017,he should have worked in that occupation at least as recently as in 2012...any experience from 2007 till 2012 will be counted for ur CRS points and ranking...
One may even have experience under multiple NOC codes within last 10 years and that will get CRS points too...
however,to be eligible for FSW, one should have at least part experience in the chosen occupation in last 5 years...ie. Since 2012...
to make it clear,if my last working day in the occupation was 2012June 10th, I am eligible to apply till 9th June 2017....so ,you may alternatively file for FSW EE with your recent experience matching to an NOC code..
opinions of seniors are welcome

It's kind of the point of this criterion in place, to select workers who will be most likely to succeed in Canada.
