Master's Degree (India) ECA - Bachelor's Transcripts required by WES?

Hello,

I am from India and did both Bachelors (B.Tech, 4 years) and Masters(M.B.A, 2 years) from India. Although the topic has been discussed in different threads, i wanted to ensure that my interpretation is correct, so if one of the members can help me with my query below, it would be great.

To get your MBA evaluated, did WES require you to send your bachelor's degree transcripts as well, or were the MBA transcripts enough to issue ECA ?

I ask because of this text on WES website, after selecting country as India, which can be interpreted in two different ways.

"For all applicants submitting a Master’s Degree or PGDip earned on top of a three year Bachelor’s Degree (12+3+2) for evaluation, WES requires that you provide your Bachelor’s degree documents, otherwise WES cannot complete the evaluation."

It is easy for me to get transcripts for my Master's degree, but its challenging for me to get transcripts for my Bachelor's degree.

Since mine is a 4 year B.tech + 2 year MBA, I want to make sure that to get ECA from WES for my MBA, would WES need the transcripts for B.tech aswell ?

Any comments/inputs on this would be appreciated.

Its better to provide your B.Tech transcripts as well. You never know how WES will evaluate your MBA.

I checked using the equivalency tool and got below form their website. Do you still think i should get Bachelor's transcripts?

Country of Education: India
Name of Degree: Master of Business Administration
Name of Institution: Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur
Equivalency in Canada: Master of Business Administration

Have you considered using the services of an agency to help you get your Bachelors transcripts?

this is ver strange thing that I have noticed if your degree is from countries like India, Pakistan, Bangladesh wes asks for both Bachelors and masters and if it's from countries like UK,USA, Aus etc they don't I had Masters from Uk and they didn't ask for bachelor's and evaluated my masters only

Yes, these agencies have a thing for Asian countries.

but my concern is will cic let it go or will ask me for bachelors evaluation as well ?

I've a Masters from UK too but I sent my Bachelors for evaluation as well because I didn't want the risk unnecessary delays.

Someone I know sent only his Masters and after 3 weeks WES asked for his Bachelors. He received his ECA after 2.5 months. It was insane. I didn't want to go through a similar headache so I sent both my degrees.

CIC cares about the Highest Degree.

What I have observed on this forum is that for many people, WES has evaluated their Masters degree to be a Canadian Bachelor's equivalency. Specially from Asian countries. So if you just send your Masters degree, and WES evaluate it to be a Bachelors, you will get points for 1 Bachelor degree only. Whereas, if you send your Bachelors degree too, you will have points for 2 degrees of more.

Also, In India, some of the Bachelors degrees are a 3 years course. If you have a Masters degree after a 3 years Bachelors degree, in that case WES specifically asks to send both the degrees.

No. As long as your ECA states that your degree is equivalent to a Canadian Masters degree, you won't need an ECA for your bachelors.

Did WES ask you for your Bachelors degree transcripts? I have a Masters from the US too and I only sent my Masters transcript. WES evaluated my equivalence as a Masters degree. No mention was made of my degree in India.

Yes i am talking with couple of such agencies to try and see what would work out best, even before opening this thread.

So Since my Bachelor's is 4 years ( and not 3, in which case we know WES would ask for bachelors transcripts for sure), and if getting bachelor's transcripts is taking time, would it make sense to proceed with my Master's ECA with transcripts for master's only for now and in parallel work towards getting the transcripts for Bachelor's

Or should i just wait till i am able to figure out how to get the Bachelor's degree transcripts.

Did WES ask you for your Bachelors degree transcripts? I have a Masters from the US too and I only sent my Masters transcript. WES evaluated my equivalence as a Masters degree. No mention was made of my degree in India.

No they did not ask but I sent it anyway.

But at that time I was not active on this forum and didn't know that only my Masters from US will do the job.

You can go ahead with your Masters evaluation. I think I read that you can edit your order at a later stage to add another degree for evaluation. Double check this on WES website.
