Anyone got request to upload CV? Why CIC needs CV/Resume?

Hi everyone

Yesterday, I got an email from CIC requesting to upload my and my husband's CV and study/publcation/supervisors/etc information.

Why and in what cases they need applicant's CV?

Anyone else was asked to upload their CV? and what happened next?

As your a cec applicant i assume they have seen your CV in the past. Are there any discrepancies?

That is weird. I did know they verify your job description with NOC code with the LinkedIn profile.
Did you upload CV anywhere with different info than your NOC code ??

Indeed, this is roughly what i mean. For work visas you usually submit a CV. It's possible they have an old one of yours. Do you know if it was wildly different?

No, I always had my NOC job information on my CV.

It could just be a formality then. Sometimes they do odd things. As long as everything lines up and you haven't claimed something completely different in the past you should be just fine.

The thing is I almost don't know of anyone else who was asked for CV, and that is surprising.

But how about this: My NOC is research related and a main duty there is publishing in scientific conferences and journals.
I am thinking maybe they wanted to see if I have been really having publications in my 2 job for which I got points in my application?
because in my application there was no information showing my publications.

I found few other people who also received CV request from CIC. It seems that the reason of being asked for CV might be related to the country of origin (midle east, etc.).

Those people are still waiting for PR (about 6 months after submitting the requested CV), although it might be not because of the CV request and extra security check, but due to them being in PNP stream.

I am worried if I (in CEC inland stream) also will have a loooong PR process, probably because CV request would lead to extra background check.

PLEASE let me know if you have seen anyone else asked to upload CV. I need to know how long it took them to receive PR after that request, and if it's related to country of origin.

A friend of mine was in CEC stream. Got request for CV. The whole application process took 11 months. He is landed now.

I am guessing it has to do with your area of research and your country of citizenship. Is your research chemistry, biology or physics related? or do you have any expertise that could be used to make biological or chemical weapons. A number of my friends with Phds in chemistry were asked by the US consulate to submit their CVs when they applied for US visas; totally unrelated but you could extrapolate the information. BTW, did you have teaching in your reference letter?

My field is computer science. I had teaching in my reference letter too.

Thanks. Can you please tell me how long ago he applied?
Because the whole process used to be slower in the past too. So I don't know if the 11 months was due to security check (related to CV request) or it would anyways take more than 6 months?

(The current trend for CEC is about 2-3 months only).

Also is he from middle east probably?
and his field of study was physics, chemistry, electrical, computer science?

What i don't understand is a resume s a completely unofficial document. You can list anything there. You can completely manipulate it. Odd.
