Taking part time during an academic due to course failure leads to reject PGWP?

Ah...I just found this issue. OMG.

I finished BCIT diploma program(125 credits) just before and my study permit expires 31 November 2017.
My story is like this...

Finished 1st semester successfully.
But, failed 3 courses(kicked out from full time) in 2nd semester. - took 1 course in the summer
Took 2 courses in the next semester as part time. Readmission for full time.
Dropped 1 course early to reduce heavy workload and took it in the summer. Finished 3rd semester.
Finished 4th semester and the program with 2 and half years.

I am up to apply for PGWP now and so worried of rejection.
In my case, do I have possibility to reject PGWP?
I would be appreciated of any reply.

Determine your eligibility — Work after graduation
To obtain a work permit after your graduation, you must meet the following requirements:

You must have continuously studied full time in Canada and you must have completed a program of study that lasted at least eight months.

In addition, you must have graduated from:
a public post-secondary institution, such as a college, trade/technical school, university or CEGEP (in Quebec), or
a private post-secondary institution that operates under the same rules and regulations as public institutions, or
a private secondary or post-secondary institution (in Quebec) offering qualifying programs of 900 hours or longer leading to a diplôme d’études professionnelles (DEP) or an attestation de spécialisation professionnelle (ASP), or
a Canadian private institution authorized by provincial statute to confer degrees but only if you are enrolled in one of the programs of study leading to a degree as authorized by the province and not in all programs of study offered by the private institution.
You must apply for a work permit within 90 days of receiving written confirmation (for example, a transcript or an official letter) from your institution indicating that you have met the requirements for completing your academic program.
You must have completed and passed the program of study and received a notification that you are eligible to obtain your degree, diploma or certificate.
You must have a valid study permit when you apply for the work permit.

How many semesters were you part time when you should have been full time? 1 or 2? If it's 1 - there's a chance your PGWP may be approved (it will be up to the visa officer). If it's 2 - then you should be expecting a refusal for failing to study continuously.

I took only 1 semester in academic year (summer course is not counted as long as I know). In fact BCIT doesnt allowe to take more than 2 courses to cover failed courses as a part time. I just talked to school staff, she said it would not a problem. But it is all up to CIC officer. So i would meet the school staff next week to discuss this issue and get some letter for explanation to get better chance to get PGWP. Fortunately my visa expires on 30 Nov 2017. God should bless me.

Taking courses in the summer isint a problem as it is not an academic term. On the other hand, You'll have be full time during fall and winter. So, You pretty much screwed up .

I assume you have finished your course now. So, 90 more days from the date of completion and your study permit will expire automatically. It's not 30 Nov, 2017.

FYI,

1. You can have study permit issued for part time studies but you will have PGWP issued only for a continuous full time program. Schools have nothing to do with your PGWP eligibility.
2. You can pursue studies with a part time status. You (and your school) are not in violation of study permit conditions if you registered as a part time.
3. You can work off campus only when you are a full time student.

The only option left for you is to apply for PGWP and wait for the result.

Thanks for your reply. Um..ye. failing to get PGWP could be possible.
It is all up to the CIC examiner. I can't handle it myself.
I might another 2 options, the one is to apply another study permit(studying 1 more year for certificate) or
find a company which can offer job offer with LMO.

Oh...pretty bad. Good to know it earlier.
What is the completion date exactly? When I get the final record? or Transcript?
The final transcript hasn't got issued yet.

I also have another question.
I came to Canada with my wife and child. My wife has open work permit and my child has TRV with the same date of my visa. Then how about their visas? Their visas also expires too? It's really strange...if so?

1. Yes, officially CIC wrote it. But, I had no any option to pursue to finish my diploma program.
In fact, I got a wrong direction from my program header. He said BCIT would not kick me out
though I failed some courses. However, it was not true. If he gave me a right direction,
I would have taken a modified plan with full time by dropping dangerous courses earlier.
So bad.

2. Yes, I put all my effort to cover failed courses. In fact, there was another option if I knew it earlier.
I could take one more unnecessary course to match the condition. Though I needed to get a special
permit from school that I can take 3 courses in a semester in part-time study.

3. I haven't worked because it was quite hard to finish my courses though I took only 2 courses(9 credits).

In a nutshell, BCIT kills students with extremely heavy work load.
Even though there are 125 credits within 2 years to finish the program, we need to take some extra hours.
Failure is just common though failing 3 courses is not common.

Yes, I just submit everything I get and wait CIC decision.
I will try to find some ways to get LMIA.
Not sure to apply for 1 year certificate course, cause fall semester is too long to wait.
In that case, not sure to get student extension(9 months gap to start course).

I found lots of yr quotes here to help people. You should be a great guy.
Yes, those people who write about refusal PGWP story are really disappointed and mad.

Anyway, after searching this issue(taking 1 semester with part time study between 2nd and 3rd semester),
I found almost no case like mine. That means it is generally ok as long as someone has pursued their study.
Yes, it's all up to CIC examiner. No one can judge with a certain result.

I will prepare some helpful documents from my school before I submit.
And I will write my story here for other people and I wish other guys do it for case study for other people.
It will definitely be benefit to other guys who have same situation in the future.

Hi, guys.

I have waited for my PGWP more than 2 months.
Yesterday, I got PGWP. lol

I could send only official letter from school, but I just want to face the matter.
So, I sent the official letter and optionally the letter of explanation and transcript together.
I was quite sure I could get it cause most cases of rejection is continuously taking part time or by online.
I recommend you send the letter of explanation with your real story to examiners.
Everything is all up to them.

As long as I know, Canadians are not that mean and people are very reasonable.
I Love Canada and like to settle down and I hope wish you luck too.

You got wrong. I called CIC and CIC said my study permit is available till the time on the visa.
My study permit is still available so I can continue studying.
