Plus you must remember that this particular job requires enrollment as a student to be able to do it.
So, if you worked as a TA, then I think you are fine.
That is very interesting. It does seem to say I may include my experience under FSW (not CEC).

Just to make it clear, my internship was 16 months, continuous employment under a single company. (it was an engineering position)

But in the chance that my application gets rejected, what kind of trouble would I be in? I don't want to be black listed or anything. Did someone try this?

I am in the exact same boat as you!

I have had a similar arguments with some of the experts here. I did a 16 months full time paid internship as you did. You can see my immigration status in my signature information below. Check out the following link for my previous discussions with the other on the same topic:

http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/oinp-ee-human-capital-priorities-stream-comprehensive-guide-t396543.0.html;msg4954796#msg4954796

I can't really say for sure who is right or wrong but This is what I have been able to fine to support my argument:

  • As Encore noted previously: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?q=855&t=6
  • In page 8 of the Ontario Human Capital Priorities Application Guide states:
"If you choose to be assessed against FSWP criteria in your application to the Ontario Human Capital Priorities Stream, OINP requires that you have a minimum of one year of continuous and full-time employment (1,560 hours or more) or an equal amount in continuous part-time paid work experience in a NOC 0, A, or B occupation in the past five years from the date of the PT Notification of Interest from Ontario. Applicants assessed against FSWP criteria can demonstrate work experience obtained in Canada or overseas."

I won't know until my OINP and after that my CIC application are assessed.

Sorry for being late to the party.
Unless the experts you have talked to in this forum, are actual professionals working for the ministry or are immigration lawyers (whose motives can be construed as heavily biased with respect to immigration cases), they honestly cannot claim with full confidence that the experience would or would not be counted. I got confirmation from my university's international office head and actual Immigration ministry officials, not someone doing support, answering calls at a call centre. Your work experience should be counted for FSW but not CEC as it's skilled work, according to all the people I have contacted. You are documenting all of this with tax forms to back it up. It's not like you were not paying taxes on that income, that it shouldn't be counted. If contracted jobs are counted, this should be as well.

I have personally applied via ITA about a month ago with a similar background. I can update you whether my application ended up being successful here, once I receive confirmation.

Great to know I am not alone in this ;D

I would greatly appreciate it if you update us with your ITA situation asap. I have an OINP application in process but my EE profile expires in the beginning of July and I am debating if I should just drop my application and get my application fee back($1500 CAD), or renew my EE profile and keep the application going.

So please keep us posted 8)

It won't get added to FSW as it wouldn't be foreign work experience.
Canadian experience can be used to meet FSW work experience requirement.

Yes, it can be added to meet FSW eligibility. I meant that it can't be taken as foreign work experience under EE to get CRS points but that wasn't entirely clear in that last post - my bad.

Not yet. I am not too worried in either case since I started working full-time not that long ago. In 6 more months I can safely apply as CEC. My PGWP is valid for a few more years.

Hi,

I have a similar doubt.

As asked by BKSAP "what about the time between, you received your letter from graduation and apply for work permit". I received degree completion letter from University on 15-Feb-2015 and applied online for PGWP on 21-Feb-2015 and finally I received PGWP on 9-May-2015. CIC took 2.5 months to process my PGWP. But study permit expired on 30-Mar-2015. From 31-Mar-2015 onwards, I was on implied status.

Will the work experience during implied status considered for CEC or not?

Honestly, I think it should be. You were in the country legally and working legally. The onus was on CIC who did not process your work permit fast enough.
I, personally, was on implied status last year for over 3 months and worked on a public sector contract position full-time. I never had any issues getting paid or extending the contract.
For the record, I applied for my PGWP over 60 days before my study permit expired, within 5 days of receiving confirmation of graduation. CIC took that long to process it

Hi AmirHNK,
I applied for GCMS notes recently and my eligibility shows up as Recommended Passed. I passed A10 and R11.2 with zero issues. There were no hiccups from what I could see from the notes. Right now my security is in progress. Essentially, they are not going to reject your experience if you have all your documentation accurately. So keep all your t's crossed and i's dotted, and you'll be good :). Ignore whatever a lot of people are saying on the forums. In my experience, people who are the loudest about situations not their own usually know the least ;).

Also @JSN_2016, my experience from working on Implied status was counted, so you should be safe too.

Hi Eggesterminate,

How was your PR process. At last I found a person similar to my situation. Can you share your experience?

I am also in the similar situation now. I received ITA.

- I received degree completion letter from University on 23-Feb-2015
- I applied for the post-graduate work permit (PGWP) online on 24-Feb-2015
- My study permit was valid till 31-March-2015. From 1-April-2015, I was on implied status till 7-May-2015
- But the date issue of PGWP is on 8-May-2015
- I received ITA on 1-June-2016

Scenario1:
Job1 : Company A
Status: Part time
Duration : 1-Mar-2015 to 08-Aug-2015 (PGWP issued on 8-May-2015)
Total weeks: 23 weeks (I have been told that 18hrs/30hrs=0.6, 23 weeks*0.6= 13.8 full-time weeks)
Hours/week : 18 hrs
Total hours : 23weeks*18hrs=414hrs

Note: 09-Aug-2015 to 16-Aug-2016, I didn't work.

Job2: Company B
Status : Full time
Duration : 17-Aug-2015 to 1-June-2016 (I received ITA on 1-June-2016)
Total weeks : 41 full-time weeks and 3 days
Hours/week : 37.5
Total hours : 41.3 weeks*30hrs=1239hrs

Job1 (13.8 full-time weeks) + Job2 (41 full-time weeks) = Total (54.8 full-time weeks and 1653hrs), In this case, I completed 1 year.

Did you accept the ITA after completing 1 year?
Did you use the work experience gained while waiting for PGWP towards your CEC?

Hi Nalanda,
Your work status is a little iffy. I am not sure if it will be counted. It might be counted. I believe you need 1 year continuous full-time work experience which I had during my internship. AmirHNK appears to have it too.
Since you are a recent grad, see if you could get in touch with a counsellor at your University's International Office and find out from them. Or contact CIC directly.
I never really worked part-time except when I was a TA at school. Sorry about not being able to give you better advice. :(

To your questions:
I accepted ITA as soon as I got it. In my case work experience was 6 months at a full-time contract position after graduation, and now at a permanent full-time job at a company. This was in addition to the earlier mentioned TA position part-time and full-time 16 month internship (on a Coop work permit).
I did not activate my Express entry profile for a few months to wait for PCC documentation as soon as I figured I had enough points.

I applied via FSW. However, I doubt CIC would disregard your work while on implied status since you did receive a work permit after all and they were the bottleneck.

Hi AmirHNK,
I applied for GCMS ...
Thanks for the update! I am hopeful that the officers who will be processing my application give me a pass too!

By the way, what are GCMS, A10 and R12?
