Pregnancy while waiting for PR

Hi all,

I have a query regarding the change of circumstances mentioned as part of ppr email.

One of them says, "Birth of a child and/or pregnancy (please provide expected date of confinement)"

My wife is currently pregnant (3 months), will this information cause any delay in getting the landing visa stamped on the passport, or is this requested just for information ?

Is it wise to inform CIC right away now or to inform during the landing? I am afraid of any delays due to the same in getting the passport stamped.

Could you please suggest with any advice.

cic only cares if the baby is born before you land. if you land before the baby is born, cic doesn't need to do anything to your visa, however i believe the baby will need to be sponsored separately for PR (someone will confirm). if you wait to land until after the baby is born, the baby needs to be added to the application and be approved for pr.

Informing the visa office that your wife is pregnant will not delay processing. If the child is born in Canada, then the child is automatically a Canadian citizen and does not need to be sponsored. If the child is born outside of Canada, then you will have to add the child to the application (or sponsor the child separately if your wife has already landed and then left Canada to have the baby back home).

You really do not need to inform them unless the baby is born before you land in Canada.
If that happens, you MUST inform VO, your application goes on hold and baby needs to be added to your application.
If baby is born after you have already arrived in Canada, then they become Canadian citizen by birth.
If you go back to your native country after you have already completed landing, and then have the baby there (outside Canada), then you will need to sponsor PR for your baby, which can be a painful process.

No, she hasn't landed yet, she just got the passport request and I saw the above mentioned text (Birth of a child and/or pregnancy (please provide expected date of confinement)) in the change in circumstances section.

As suggested, I believe it should be fine to just inform them about the expected due date in the cover letter with the passport.
And we plan to stay in Canada for baby birth so the documentation becomes easy.

Hope to get her land in Canada soon. Thanks again for the suggestions.

Probably a bad idea. There was another case here recently where an applicant informed their visa office about pregnancy right as app was being approved, and the visa office ended up asking for lots of additional info that resulted in delay of the application.

Again a pregnancy is irrelevant to the application, especially so close to PPR. There is no point to mention it, as there is no benefit to it but there is possibility to add delays.

I would only recommend to include pregnancy info if it was being used to help with proving genuineness of relationship, or if medicals were set to expire and were hoping to get an extension instead of doing a re-medical (which may not be possible due to pregnancy).

There is really no need to inform VO about pregnancy as long as you are going to land before delivery.

I was wondering what you finally ended up doing. We are kind of in a similar situation here. I am the main applicant, 4 months pregnant and expecting our PPR anytime now. Could you please help me with how you went about your situation? We are confused at the moment of our options, whether to have the baby in Canada or here at home.

I am in the same situation. I am primary applicant and my wife is 8 weeks pregnant. My AOR is 11th July 2019. I informed CIC about the pregnancy through web form but they replied saying that you application is under process and they will contact me if any additional documents are required. I am not sure what to do now. Please share your experiences.

Your wife will have to do a medical. If she doesn’t want to do the chest X-ray she can complete it after the birth. This will assure that you don’t have to land until after the baby is born.

Sir our medical is already passed and we have submitted biometrics also.
