My first post here.. I'm a permanent resident and want to get some info regarding Spouse sponsorship.

I'm visiting karachi,Pakistan this Jan 2016 to get married. I have some question regarding Spouse sponsorship.

1) How long is average processing time for Spouse sponsorship ( from start to the last thing .. getting the via)

2) If my future spouse apply for student visa and comes here as a student . .Once she's here we declare our marriage and I sponsor her.
2.1) How long is the student visa taking ?
2.2) Can I do this ? she come here as a student and then I sponsor her..

It used to take about 1.5 yrs for most, but these days its getting faster for many. Expect around 8-12 months if no issues.

Do not lie to CIC about your marriage, they do background checks and if they find out, your spouse will be charged with misrepresentation, and may get barred from Canada. and would not be able to qualify under family sponsorship (if you hide the marriage and declare her as single and get her a student visa and then she marries you, CIC will know this easily and then big big problems).

Go get married, get the documents ready, apply to sponsor her and she will be with you in few months or a year.
Don't waste money/effort on student visa, it is not worth it. Its a very easy process.

I got married on January 16 2015 - What i did was when i went i gathered alot of proof of the marriage, likes pictures, copy of the marriage certificate. The English version from Nadra. I filled my wife's application when i came back to Canada on April 16 2015. My wife landed on Nov 10 2015.

Spoke with MP's office 2014, no action, right of landing fee paid
File transferred to LVO: Unknown
Received first email: Jun 29, 2015 (claiming the relationship may an excluded one)
Response filed: Aug 26, 2015 - Citing all relevant laws and court decisions (CIC now processes similar application as common law partners)
Response filed: Aug 26, 2015 - Additional proofs of genuine relationship Pics, financial records, travel and telephone records
Request for Expedited processing:Nov 2015

My wife of 5 years is now going into deep depression over the prolonged separation, maintaining two homes
I am in poor health, visited wife 4 time for a total of about 50 weeks and feeling suicidal now

hi , i have a quest, ibhave listened that now they transfer app to LVO instead of ISB but why they have transferred my file to Islamabad?someone says if my wife is elder thn they sent to ISB first thn to LVO we im 10 years younger to my wife is thts a reason??even now the status in ecase is that they have started processing on my PR app fro 19april,2016 (file was transferred on 13th april,2016) plz answer if anyone know????

It all depends on the documentation you have provided. If all your documents are complete. A Case which is processing in LVO should not take more then 1 year.


I applied for my wife in April 2015 and my wife arrived in Canada in Nov 2015
