Hi All,

I have ITA and before starting with the application I am trying to gather info about mistakes and error that sometimes lead to applications being returned. So I read somewhere that one of the reason is NOC job code being incorrect. So my questions on it are-
1) I my application I have put 2171, but I am doubtful if VO might feel that my roles and responsibilities are more appropriate to 2283? Can VO return my application based on it even if I have got ITA simply on my Core Human capital points and not on PNP or Job offer?
2) If I need to correct it now, how can I do it as all the pages in my submitted application are appearing in read only mode i.e. I can't do any edits there.

Thanks in advance!

I'm not an expert by any means but here's what I think.
1. Some forum members have reported rejections based on mismatch of NOCs to the duties/responsibilities listed on the LORs. Don't know whether these were PNP or LMIA candidates. Make sure your LOR's duties and responsibilities match with the NOC you've chosen.
2. You can't edit your EE profile after ITA. However, changes can be made while you fill out eAPR questionnaire. If you think another NOC is more appropriate, I think you should go with that NOC in your eAPR. I believe CIC will be fine with the change but you can attach a brief LOE if you feel like it.

I hope this helps. Best wishes.

Thanks MooseNBooze.
More comments will surely be helpful, so seniors, experts please put your words also.

So does changing my NOC while filling out ITA forms looks like to be safest way to proceed and should I also include an explanation letter along with it.

Yes. NOC mismatch can get you refused. Choose the NOC that closely matches your job responsibilities. Ignore the job title.

2) If I need to correct it now, how can I do it as all the pages in my submitted application are appearing in read only mode i.e. I can't do any edits there.

You can make changes in post ITA application. However, make sure that you don't make a change that renders your profile ineligible. You'll need to always maintain at least 67/100 on the FSW grid. Work experience points on that grid are calculated based on the experience you have in Primary NOC. If you've chosen Primary NOC as 2171 and you change the employment NOC to 2283 without changing the Primary NOC, you're in danger of losing all work experience points and thereby falling below 67/100 which will instantly render your profile ineligible and you'll lose the ITA as well. Be very careful about changing Primary NOC and job-specific NOCs in the post ITA application. If this hasn't clarified completely, share the details of your work experience for additional guidance.

Thanks in advance!

Thanks a lot for helping out here Asivad.

A quick bit about me with work experience
Age-33, Indian, Single, Education-Masters in Computer Applications, ECA-Masters, IELTS CLB9+.
Work Experience: in Software Quality Testing will complete 9 years in Feb 2016. First company-2171, 2006 to 2009, Second company-2171, 2009 till date.
I selected NOC 2171 as one of the title nearly matched mine and out of 4 defined duties for it 1 matched with my current profile.
Additionally, SINP nominated me in December with 2171 based on the roles and responsibilities that I provided to them.

I also tried to go through the FSW-Six selection factors at http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/apply-factors.asp but did not see anything like NOC specific information being asked here, and I see that I am safely above 67 required number here. Today I also created a TEST MyCIC account to submit an application with 2283 instead of 2171, but I guess I have to wait for 24 hrs before I see my score there.

Even though SINP nominated me with 2171, I am still confused, as also asking NOC people at NC-NOC-CNP-GD@hrsdc-rhdcc.gc.ca about my appropriate NOC based on my roles and responsibilities(that I also gave to SINP also) has always returned a 2283 response.

Questions-
So what should I go with in my Post ITA application -2271 or 2283? Would selecting 2283 result in my application becoming ineligible? If no, should I put any letter of explanation along with it explaining why my initial submission had 2171?

Continue with the NOC approved by your nominating province.

Thanks Asivad.

Sorry for pestering you again but do you really feel it is OK to go with 2171(which is one I submitted by EE profile with and made my SINP application, which they also accepted & nominated) or 2283(since NOC people at NC-NOC-CNP-GD@hrsdc-rhdcc.gc.ca have always replied back with 2283 whenever I shared my roles and responsibilities with them).

Saskatchewan has accepted that NOC and provided you a nomination partially based on that as well. You'll be unnecessarily tempting fate by changing your NOC in the post ITA application. Your call.

Reading about recent refusals is making me feel that CIC is very stringent in their checks and also making me all the more worried about my case, so I am opening it up for more comments/suggestion.

NOC people at NC-NOC-CNP-GD@hrsdc-rhdcc.gc.ca have suggested NOC 2283 for roles and responsibilities that I shared with them. So I am considering to change my work experience in POST ITA to NOC 2283 from NOC 2171. But first I need support and feeback of seniors/expert on following:
1) Has anyone faced any issues or refusals if they change their NOC in POST ITA?
2) As Avisad in his earlier comments here very clearly pointed out -"You'll need to always maintain at least 67/100 on the FSW grid.", so I want to be really sure on how to change my NOC without accidentally making it ineligible. Here what I think I should do:
Currently Work Experience in my ITA application:
Primary NOC- 2171
Work Experience
(Dec 2006- Jun 2009) 2.5 years-NOC 2171
(Aug 2009- Till date) 6.5 years- NOC2171

Now to safely change my NOC and also always meet the minimum 1 year work experience requirement of 67 point criteria, I plan to make changes as follow:
1) First change (Dec 2006- Jun 2009) 2.5 years NOC from 2171 to 2283.
2) With above change I can now change my primary NOC to 2283 as now their exist a work experience of 2.5 years in 2283.
3) Finally change (Aug 2009- Till date) 6.5 years to 2283.

Avisad and others, am I doing it correctly. Please suggest.

Thanks for all the support.

This would work. Make sure you don't 'save' your application before making ALL the changes - that is invariably what causes ineligibility.

I am confused to change the primary NOC 2171 that was used to get nomination from SINP. SINP nominated you on 2171 Occupation and in the nomination letter they remarked your NOC. It's complicated.

@Asivad,

I sent a personal message regarding NOC issue. My primary NOC 2171 - (2009-continue) - 6 years 7 months (at the time of eAPR submission) - job responsibilities matched to NOC 2171 - There is no problem with this NOC.

But I am bit worried because my first two work experiences where I performed as Software Quality Assurance Engineer (2 years 7 months). I was not getting this occupation NOC and I thought its a part of Software Engineering, and thats why I selected 2173 (Software Engineers). In this forum when I found someone finding NOC for almost same job duties, and peoples suggested to choose 2283, it made me worried.

I checked my 67/100 or Express Entry CRS points also, the points are not changing for me. Because my primary NOC 2171 has more than 6 years exp. If VO found issue for NOC for first two work exp, will it make a problem? Please advise me. Many thanks.

Avoid making changes if you've been nominated by the province on that NOC.

Changing/not changing those 2 NOCs would make no difference to your application either on CRS or program eligibility. Recommend that you let them be.

@Duckirha, I didn't accept my SINP nomination. My ITA is without any PNP nomination or job offer. Since I did not accept SINP nomination, hence I think I can make change in NOC to avoid any NOC related problem from CIC.

@Asivad, thanks for your support as always, a +1 for you. Do you think uploading a letter of explanation(LOE) about why I change my NOC post ITA should be done in my case?
