Hi guys,

I am just wondering if anyone can help me out. I am due to submit my express entry application from within Canada in the next couple of weeks and now think i might have to return home during the period that the application will be processing. Will this effect my application being processed?

I am hoping to get the BWOP for the summer and understand that if I leave and come back into Canada I may or may not be issued with a work permit. I was thinking that if I left I would stay home until my application was either accepted or rejected. Is this possible?

Many thanks for your help!

Cic official response :- You do not have to be physically located in Canada throughout application processing; however, you must respond to any requests for information/documents. Each application under Express Entry is to be considered on its own merits, with a final decision based on a review of all the information available to the CIC officer at the time of decision.

Hi dukhi, I am also asking the same question as per rosesuperted.

Can you let me know (send me a PM if that is better for you) on what is the specific question that you were asking CIC in the first place?

Hi ntwkengg, I understand that, however am just wondering how would it work when it comes to receiving a Passport Request (PPR) from CIC?

Even if I mail my passport to CIC from a different country, CIC has already mentioned on their website that they will not mail back the passport to a destination outside of Canada...

how would it work in that situation?

Maybe it was Dukhi!

Forgive my ignorance, what is a PPR request? Do CIC take your passport from you before informing weather or not you are granted PR? Surely for all the people applying outside of Canada this cant be possible.

ntwkengg if I would only need to update my address would employment in a different country other than my home country need to be updated/affect my application?

Many thanks for everyones help.

PPR is Passport Request from CIC. they will only issue that when they have approved your PR application.

basically, when applying PR, you can choose to apply from inside OR outside of Canada. Assuming you are applying from inside of Canada, you will be notified at a certain stage if your application is approved, hence you give get a PPR (Passport Request). you will need to mail CIC your Passport for them to issue the PR (appending something to the Passport if I am not mistaken), then they will mail it back to your address.

this will be different if you chose to apply from outside of Canada, in which you will be mailing your Passport to the nearest local Canada Immigration office around your location in the world (again, I am assuming this would be the case).

So I'd like to gain visibility on how it would be when I first applied for PR inside Canada, then leave the country half-way, then my application got approved, how would I deal with the PPR?

Thanks guys for your replies.

Hello all,

If you apply from inside Canada and then in between you move to home country then you have to notify CIC that you are moving outside of canada as your application is in progress so they will update your current address to your home country's address. So once your PR is approved your case will transferred to your home country's nearest embassy for Passport request and visa approval so it is possible that this process takes more time than usual processing times as you are changing it in between your process. But this is not an issue you can surely leave your country as your visa is expiring or you have some emergency so it is valid reason.

Please go through this link for change of address procedure.

Thanks.
Hope I have answered your issue well.
Please let me know if you have any other doubt on this matter.

Quoting as per CIC post from that link:

Outside Canada
If you submitted an immigration application, you must contact the Canadian visa office serving your region to change your address.

If you submitted an application for a citizenship certificate (proof of citizenship), search in the citizenship records or to renounce (give up) your Canadian citizenship and:

You are in the United States: you can do one of the following:
Mail a letter to CPC-Sydney with your new address.
If you sent your application on or after September 2, read the acknowledgement letter we sent you. It will explain how to change your address.
If you sent your application before September 2, contact the Canadian embassy or consulate where you sent your application.
You are outside the United States, you must contact the Canadian embassy, high commission or consulate responsible for your region.
Notices

If you do not tell CIC or the visa office of your change of address, important documents could be delayed or lost. This could cause your application to be refused.

If you have applied for a pre-removal risk assessment (PRRA) or made an application for permanent residence based on humanitarian and compassionate (H&C) grounds, you should send your change of address to the Backlog Reduction Office in Vancouver.

hey guys, so I sent an email to update my address as I had to leave the country while my application was being processed.

I am not sure how to go into my cic account and check if they were able to change the address and I can see people around the time i submitted my application getting requests for PPR.

Can someone let me know how I am able to make sure that my address was updated in my cic account?

I am about to submit my application for PR but I would be traveling to USA or Canada after that on a visit visa for a few months. Is it possible for me to get my PR Visa stamped from Canada or USA after I receive my PPR? Do I really need to be back in my home country where I submitted the application from? Would really appreciate a response.
