Changing open work permit to allow work with children/in public health

I have a question about changing an existing open work permit.
My spouse specified in her application that she doesn’t want to work with children/in health care in order to avoid having to take a medical exam, since it would have been pretty inconvenient.
However she does want to work with children, it is her preference, and she has quite a bit of experience in that field, both educational and professional.
We figured, once she is in Canada, she can just take the medical exam here (in Canada) and remove the restriction on her open work permit. But we are having the hardest time figuring how to do that!
If anyone can provide any advice, please do so, it would be highly appreciated!

When my spouse entered Canada the first time, she already had her VISA, and was getting her work-permit at the Canadian border/immigration. They gave her a list of places where she can get her medical exam done. She did get her work-permit, with the restriction that she cannot work with children, or in healthcare.

She contacted several of the medical places, trying to find one where she can get the exam the soonest. It turned out that some offices do the exams only if person is applying for a work-permit, but not if she already has one! Most offices send the exam results directly to the immigration, but since it was unclear which office they would send it to, we selected the medical office that will give the results to her, and she plans to take the results herself to immigration at the Canadian border where she received her work-permit.

I'll share how it all worked out.

Hello, I have the same exact problem as your wife, my visa says that I am not allowed to work in child care but now I got a pretty good job offer to work in that field and don't know how to change that.
What are you guys doing? apart from getting the exam done?

1. Excellent chance that it won't work out. The Panel Physician sends the medical results to the Regional Immigration Medical Centre in Ottawa. The Doctors in RIMC review the results and place then up load them. The CIC/CBSA then can retrieve the results.

Please, i am in this situation also.i have interest in health field now but i was restricted. Please if you have succeed in changing it,How did you do it?
Someone said i should just go for medical test and continue to use it with my restricted permit,does it work that way? Please i need information quickly to know what to do.

I am sorry, I meant to share how the medical exam thing worked out at the end. Better late than never?
So... we never found a doctor that would give the results to us. But my spouse did take the medical exam, with the understanding that the results will go to the appropriate person in the immigration. However, nobody could tell us how we would find out when the results came through!
In our case, because we live in Vancouver BC, and travel to Seatlle WA all the time, we would go each time to the immigration there at the border, and ask them about it. After few weeks they were able to see that the results came though, but not what the results were. After some more weeks they did see the results at which time they agreed to change my spouses work permit to remove the restriction to work with children. I believe it took good 2 months of more for the results to come through. We never figured out how somebody who can't go to the immigration at the border would find out about the results.
