Special Needs Child

We applied on Feb, 2007 and when later asked to fill in the detialed forms, declared in our application on june 2009 that we have a child with Down's Syndrome. After that they asked all other documents, corresponded with us 3 times and then asked us to go for medicals, get fresh PCC from Dubai and pay the RPRF fees. we did the medicals and have sent them today. I am now told by some people that the application would be rejected because I have a Special Needs child. Does any one know about this? Furthermore, if thats the case, then why would they ask us to submit soo many documents after we declared and ask us to pay the RPRF fees. Any one one who has gone through a similar situation or can comment on the same? This is now suddenly very stressful for us as we thought that Medical was the last formality to be done. Thanking all in advance.

You can not say for sure what gets an application rejected. There are many levels of DS and some DS people have no additional health problems and can perform a job and live in a roommate situation with minimal support. If they consider your DS child to cause excessive demand on Canada's health care, they will deny but I don't think they can refuse without looking at your child's situation first.

Thank you so much for the reply. I noticed that the medical doctor did not click " Periodic Specialist Check Required". I have submitted medical proff that she has had no cardiac problems, no Thyroid, no visual impairment, no hearing disabilities. I therefore hope and pray that it goes well. I know of one family who has a DS kid [+open heart surgery] & have been granted visa/s.

There is one more family who regularly attend our meetings in Dubai [& is a good contributor to our mail-chain], they also have one of their their children with DS [non-spasmodic] & have done their meds at Dubai London Clinic [I spoke to Dr. Smith there during one of our meets] wherein, they confirmed that in this case they have sent a report that the kid will not create 'excessive demands' to the Canadian Social System & that the CHC might ask for some additional tests + Specialist's opinion, but eventually they will be 'accepted' -most likely.

I am a father of Down Syndrome Child. My son is born on 7th July 2009. Son was born during the immigration process. We did our medicals on 24 th November at Karachi. My son was asked for and he went thru repeat medicals at Aga Khan Hospital at Karachi on 4th Jan 2010. Still we are waiting for the results / PPRF request.

Dear do not get disheart. These children are always blessed one by the God and their parents are the chosen one.

My son has no medical problems (yet). During these 9 months, his echocardigram, eyes tests, etc etc etc are being done on every 3 months basis. He is healthy and very social. Unluckily he can not sit, move or crawl but Allah will do the all things right.

My visa office is Islamabad. I applied on 23th Sep 2008 (Fast Track) unser FSW category.

Yes there is no information from embassy. Being positive, if no contact from that end after repeat medicals than case is approved.

What is the age of your little angel? Till now, what growth milestones she have achieved?

Thanks Ramesh,

My borther called CIC yesterday In Alberta and asked them the same question. He was replied: An Application can get rejected if the child has DS and the medical officer thinks that it will be a burden on the health system. However, an application can be approved if the Officer thinks that he/she can live with minimum medical requirements. Therefore now I have stopped guessing and have left it on Allah. Lets see how it goes.

Dear Mirza876.

I once again say that these children are blessed one and chosen one are their parents. I, complained to Almighty Allah and cried for 4 Hrs after his birth. But, than i thanked God that he chosen me and gifted me with his precious gift. Now we have to take care of him.

I have very very firm belief in Allah (Although i belong to HINDU Religion) that every thing will be all right. Thanks a lot in advance for prayers for my child in the holiest place on earth.

I also intend to go to Calgary as i am a Petroleum Engineer by profession.
