Usually the decision should follow short after the BVL, but I see some other students as well who got the BVL this Sep and received the approval after few days/weeks. did your eligibility started the day you received BVL?
Yeah the review of eligibility started on the same day as BVL.

I have reached MP and they responded, *It’s still in progress and might take several months to finalize it* but my husband can work after the date he received in his letter. I have until December 4th to apply. But seen the time most of the ones in here, I won’t have enough time. Yesterday, I heard from an immigration lawyer to send web forms at least once a week to explain your situation and how the delay is affecting you. I sent the 1st one this morning. I will keep trying.
Has anyone tried it?

hi all,
please help me here.

I have study permit expiring in Nov 2024. My study completion was in Aug this year.
Unfortunately, I am unable to complete my placement hours so college give me till DEC 2024 to complete it.

I could not find the placement this semester also so college ask me to finish the placement as a part time student from Jan 2025 to April 2025.
I am still register in online placement course.
Can I still work off campus 20 hours during this time?

Can I extend my study permit till April 2025?

This one is a bit tricky for me. You should definitely apply for a study permit extension, as your current permit expires before you will finish your program.

However, I doubt you can continue working, even part-time until your final semester starts. You mentioned the school requested that you complete the placement term starting January, so I assume that would mean you defer your studies until then so this would mean that you can't continue working. Maybe someone more experienced can provide further insights into this.

see below excerpt, parts highlighted in red :

What counts as an authorized leave from your studies?
There are a few cases where you may be able to take a leave of up to a maximum of 150 days from your program of studies and still be considered to be actively pursuing your studies.

You don’t need to tell us if you’re taking an authorized leave. However, if we ask for it, you must provide proof that your leave is

  • authorized by your DLI and
  • no longer than 150 days
It counts as authorized leave if
  • your school has authorized a leave from your study program for
    • medical reasons or pregnancy
    • family emergency
    • death or serious illness of a family member
    • any other type of leave your school authorizes
  • your school has closed permanently or because of a strike
  • you’ve changed schools
  • you or your school deferred your program start date
    • In this case, you must start your studies the next semester, even if it starts sooner than 150 days, and get an updated letter of acceptance.
You can’t work on or off campus during an authorized leave from your study program, even if your study permit says you’re allowed to work in Canada.

The above link say this:-

show you’re actively pursuing your studies, unless you’re exempt, by
  • being enrolled full-time or part-time during each academic semester (excluding regularly scheduled breaks)

does this apply to me here?
