Hi All, I have applied my Citizenship application on August 2023 along with Family. Test Completed on October 2023. Till now my application is pending with CSIS for Security Clearance and I got to know this 2 days back. Based on the forum discussion, I have raised request to CSIS to get information on my security clearance.
Kindle let me know if another request should i raise to speed up the process or any other alternative is there to reach out to them ? You response is much appreciated.
Note: For me RCMP is cleared. My Spouse checks are completed and she is pending with Oath Ceremony. She will not get Oath until my Security is cleared. IRCC agent asked me to separate the application if my family needs to get the oath before me.

Hi,

I am sorry to say this, but based on my experience there is nothing you can do to speed up the process. I have been waiting since July of 2023 for security clearance and have requested notes from CSIS twice.
Maybe others will have an idea.
Best of luck!

I tried requesting for csis notes and magically BG just got approved right when the notes were processed. It could be coincidence or the agent who put the notes together just did the courtesy of processing it. Who knows.

Thanks for your response. Did you apply as family or single ?
For my spouse, all the items are completed except Oath and the agent confirmed that Oath will be received only after my BGC is cleared and ready for oath considering my application is a group application.
Agent also recommended to separate my spouse application from group, so that my spouse can get the invite ahead of me. Did anyone try separating the application and received Oath for your spouse ?

I applied as a single applicant.

I tried and was not successful.

I raised a webform and in response, they asked me to send a signed letter to the processing office.
Then I sent a signed letter to Scarborough office. Multiple followups and emails later they responded with

We do not separate family members from files. As you have a valid PR card and Passport, you are free to travel with those documents while you wait for your Citizenship Application to be ready for a ceremony with your entire family.

Thanks for your response. Are you also waiting for the background to get complete ? If yes, is it also Pending with CSIS ?
I sent email to my MP expressing my concerns in delaying my Citizenship (Grants) application but I did not receive any response from my MP. How about the due date mentioned in the Prohibitions ? is that also got extended ? Kindly let me know if any other steps should be taken to know the status

Yes, I am waiting for CSIS clearance—almost 13 months (14 months since AOR).
MP office can't help much; the due date in GCMS notes is also inaccurate.

To know the detailed status best way is to request GCMS notes - CBSA and CSIS (takes about 30months)

ok.. I have read in this group email conversation that case "Writ of Mandamus" should be filed in Federal Court to get the background cleared. is this the case always or CSIS provides the background clearance in "X" amount of time, say 3 years or 4 years or before PR expiry ?

A Writ of Mandamus is not always needed. It is not guaranteed to help people stuck in Security Screening and is quite an expensive process.
No one knows about a said timeline for CSIS clearance, and it doesn't seem to be connected to PR card expiry.

I would think withdrawing the application and applying again will raise red flags and it is highly possible to end up in Security Screening again.

I don't know who has started these kind of rumors in this forum ?! Unless you know you are or have been part of a crime organization or a terrorist group : the Writ of Mandamus is always guaranteed to succeed !!

"...When the applicant prima facie meets the requirements listed in subsection 5(1) of the Act, and there is a demand for performance, the authorities have a duty to act..."

"...To allow CSIS to delay the conclusion of its investigation indefinitely, and thereby prevent the Registrar from submitting the application to the citizenship judge amounts to usurping the powers conferred on the Registrar and the citizenship judge by the Act. The evidence showed that CSIS has usurped the decision-making powers conferred on the Registrar and the citizenship judge...."

CSIS issue recommendations not decisions, therefore when a federal judge forces IRCC to finalize a decision, the latter will notify CSIS that unless there is a serious national threat consideration the IRCC will consider the CSIS investigation as closed and move on with a decision.

Now the problem is not that a Mandamus as being guaranteed or not, but rather the abusive cost involved should someone takes that lawyer route.

The SYSTEM is fully aware of the "3rd parties excuse" that has been abusively & illegally used by the IRCC over these years, but would not budge to fix it, as fixing that would hurt the "lawyers" cartel that is making mad profit off that.

At is core, the Canadian system is just a complex web of overlapping cartels that feed of its shortcomings.. Doctors, Lawyers, Telecoms & Internet providers, Diaries, food chains etc..

Thanks for explaining this. I always wondered how come “we are waiting for third party background assessment” phrase from IRCC suddenly didn’t matter when someone files a writ of mandamus. The IRCC then goes ahead and grants citizenship as if those background checks are suddenly completed. Just broken and mismanaged system.
