Hi !

A lot of people in OINP got ITAs issued through Express Entry recently.

Those who choose to withdraw their OINP, let's keep a track of the OINP fee refund. I noticed there isn't much information about this. So, anyone who got refund please do share your time lines. Following is my status

Withdrew application (and sent OINP email) 5 days after submitting it. Been 2 weeks and no response/no refund.

What about you?

Any government department usually takes 1-2 months to issue a refund, plus it's not worth anyone's effort to keep track of a measly $1,500. You'll be earning lots more. Focus on your job in Canada, not when you get your refund, it will eventually come.

A) I know a friend who got his refund in 8 days.

B) Not everyone lives and works in Canada. I live in a third world country where $1500 is not a "measly" amount. It would take me 4 months to save up to this.

C) I need this money to pay all the fees for my Express Entry ITA (within 2 months).

So yeah, this is important to me.

Hopefully you get your refund as quickly as your friend. Make sure you have a "plan B" for paying the EE fees in case the refund from OINP is delayed.

What about using a credit card as a last resort?

I am from Pakistan, we do not use credit cards here. Yes, they are available but it is not the norm so, I don't have one. I can get this money by selling my motorcycle and cell phone but I would rather not do that, but let's see, fingers crossed, hope for the best.

P.S.
Even if I do get a credit card from the bank which has my payroll account, I can only get Rs. 48,000 credit per month, which is 15% of $1500. >.<

Wow I just looked at the CAD/PKR exchange rate. What a disaster that currency is omg, the Canadian dollar has increased nearly 4 x against PKR in <20 years. Look I'm sure it'll be fine, you should get your refund within 2 months - in Canada people don't hold on to your money for fun, it's just a matter of processing times.

Hahaha a disaster indeed. I had more than enough money saved up, but then Rupee crashed and now I am broke :D

Thanks for your encouragement and assurance. I am determined to get through this!

Following is my update on the matter,

17th March - Submitted OINP application
23rd March - Withdrew application and sent an email to OINP
12th April - Got a reply stating that my refund is being processed

I am told it takes 5-6 business days for the refund to go through, will update this comment when I receive the refund.

Thanks!

Hey did you get your refund ? I'm also waiting for more than a month. Not even reply to my emails.

Dont send multiple emails, I read somewhere that it can delay the procedure, I am not sure how much truth is in this statement tho. I sent like 3 emails in a span of about a month and they replied on my first email
