that was valid in early days. I doubt people have same views/sentiments now.An even better perpective:

Like it or not, unions do win and striking does help. All the benefits we enjoy in our professional lives today are a result of workers fighting to secure their rights, such as the 40-hour workweek, laws prohibiting child labor, maternity leave, safety regulations, overtime compensation, and breaks. We should expect these benefits to continue improving as time progresses.Unions won't win, striking won't help.
So what? They even hinder me from becoming a Canadian citizen and how can I enjoy the same benefit and welfare as them?Like it or not, unions do win and striking does help. by you all you mean a handful of keyboard warriors on this forum ?Before this strike, everyone was crying that self-administered oaths degraded the entire process and that it was sooooooooo important to have ceremonies in person because allowing people to become a Canadian citizen with the click of a mouse would "cheapen" an otherwise special moment. Its so funny to see how you all now believe its not important because you were "inconvenienced" by a strike.
I'm already a Canadian citizen, and I'm still ''inconvenienced'' by this strike as well. Before this strike, everyone was crying that self-administered oaths degraded the entire process and that it was sooooooooo important to have ceremonies in person because allowing people to become a Canadian citizen with the click of a mouse would "cheapen" an otherwise special moment. So because WFH is luxury for few, others (not even everyone LOL) shouldn't ask for it? And because someone already gets an raise working for private that's considered "enormous", screw the federal employees for asking for more eh?I'm already a Canadian citizen, and I'm still ''inconvenienced'' by this strike as well.
It is inadmissible, whether we are a citizen or not yet... Because it is about our money, that of our taxes, public money.
Lost for lost, and to the point of the gravity of things, I hope that the government will not let go, and that it will not give in to blackmail... In the private sector, a 9% increase is already enormous, and the working at home is a luxury that not everyone has: The government already offers them 3/5 days a week, and only demands 2 days a week of compulsory face-to-face... What more do they want??
They shouldn't complain, it's unacceptable, they already have some of the best employment conditions in the world... Personally, I would be angry with the Trudeau government if it gives in and squanders our public money, if hard earned (I sweated for, money doesn't grow on trees). If this government gives in to blackmail, I will punish it in the next elections with the ballot box... And I am sure that many tax-paying citizens are sensitive to this point... Even native Canadians or those who have not had no relationship with IRCC during their life can be directly involved now (Canada Revenue Agency: we are in the midst of tax season, or Passport Canada: the summer season is upon us): These people will remember it when it comes to voting if Trudeau ever gives in to union blackmail.

I would like to see them try to rein in the anger if they do end up imposing back to work. Didn't go so well for Ontario last time. Some essential workers are complaining (saw in the Reddit forum) that they are denied entry to their office buildings by the protestors. When told that it is illegal, the strikers apparently said go ahead and call the cops. Management sent the essential workers home and are figuring out what to do. Now, with the government not budging from their offer and the union saying they will continue the strike indefinitely, I am concerned about the implications (not just for immigration processing but in general). I get the impression that the government is taking this lightly. Perhaps they have already agreed to impose back to work legislation next week and have talked it out with conservatives. Because if not, this could get really ugly for everyone.
What a lot of you are missing is the fact that the new budget for 2023 has plans to cut 15 billion dollars in services to clients.
If you think you're waiting for a long time now - how long do you think you'll wait once the cuts start?
Additionally, you bash working people for wanting a raise but you keep so quiet when the MPs are getting thousands of dollars raises few times a year from your tax money. You stay very quiet when they spend thousands of dollars on trips from your tax dollars.
The minimum wage was $14.25 in 2020 and it's $16.55 in 2023 which is 16.14% increase. 7.5% just this April..
Pension recepient have received 12.1% increase since 2020.
But asking for 4.5% for federal workers is somehow crazy and unreasonable?!?!
You're all living in some fantasy world where you think that government workers live like gods, you want them to provide the fastest and best services for you tho you don't complain that the employer is the one who's not hiring enough people to process applications in a timely manner.
Government employees who work on your applications receive around $54.500 a year and they are fighting for additional 4.5% which is additional $2450 per year or $204 per month..
What the employer is proposing is 2% which is $1090 per year or $90 per month... All this before taxes!!
In this economy 90 per month will do absolutely nothing.
You're up in your feels about people wanting livable wages?! Really?!
Not sure if you're looking for an actual answer but you could start by visiting https://www.canada.ca/en/services/jobs/opportunities/government.html and apply for any Federal Government jobs?how can I enjoy the same benefit and welfare as them?
