Is the child a true orphan? No biological parents alive? Is the child a family member? Are you or your spouse compliant with your RO if you are both PRs? If you are outside Canada will one parent remain compliant for the next year or so and will one parent be living in Canada during the sponsorship period? That is also important. If not compliant you also risk your status when trying to apply to sponsor an adopted child.

Yes, going through proper regulatory process. Both countries approval will be obtained. Application to sponsor is already approved. Expecting custody in few months. After that, PR visa needs be applied. I am only asking some timeline for obtaining PR visa after submitting "completed" file? CIC mentions they will prioritize this type of cases. But, this timeline will give idea of how much time we will need to spend outside Canada?

Plan on processing times of 8-10 months. Note that if you are a PR, you must be living in Canada at the time the sponsorship application is received and must continue living in Canada while the application is processed.

How can application to sponsor already be approved if you don’t have custody of the child yet? You can attempt to get a TRV for the child to come to Canada before PR processing is complete. Depending on the province the child may not qualify for healthcare until they get PR so you need so you should take out private insurance for medical emergencies snf will have to pay for any routine care.

There is a provision (without a name) to get sponsorship while adoption process is ongoing. That's a good idea of getting temporary visa, but I believe they do not recommend that anywhere in CIC website. Even the purpose of TRV is to show them you will return the home country, so I am not sure if they will consider. But, yes, that's in plans.

So, what's the meaning of "priority processing"? They have not defined it anywhere. Any idea?
Shorter than other family class applications which are 12+ months.

For children of citizens getting a TRV is quite different than applying as an adult especially if you have started sponsorship application. I would try applying for a TRV. There is a good chance of approval in your case. If TRV is denied you can try for a TRP.

Okay sounds good, thank you. Just clarification - TRP means PR visa, right?

No - it's a temporary visa that allows the child to come to Canada as a visitor while the PR application is being processed.
