Just received an email from canada-immigration@international.gc.ca. It is most definitely a scam, just wanted to warn others, especially because it referenced our application number (but yes, it is a scam)
Hi Newbie2022,

@international.gc.ca is a legit domain so is @canada.ca and @cic.gc.ca. IRCC Visa offices outside Canada often use @international.gc.ca to communicate with applicants. Read the message carefully, especially if it contains your application number and don't be quick to dismiss it as a scam! In most cases you will only have 30 days to respond to whatever they are asking for. If the letter is asking for additional document, those should be submitted through your GC Key account or sent via IRCC Webform.

Hope this helps!

I received an email from an immigration officer. Is it a scam? Visit https://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=1205&top=31

On the paper letter form IRCC it says the app will be "forwarded to a visa office". Then it says should I need to make enquiries I "must email the visa office listed above". They didn't indicate which visa office the app was transferred to. Anyone know how to get this info? The tracker only doesn't even show that we've received our biometrics or medical requests yet which were a couple of weeks ago so updates are not in real time. Thanks!
Hi SLCtoYEG,

You will most likely receive another email from the embassy where your application was forwarded to, I did. Below is the content (In Part)

Dear XXXXXXX XXXXXXXX:
This refers to your application for permanent residence in Canada which was received at this office on
XX.XX.XXXX.
We have created a file with the application number provided above. You must quote this application
number in any future correspondence.
Processing time
You can find the average processing time for our office for applications in all categories at this address:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/index.asp. This will give you an indication of how long it
may take to process your case, once we have received all the required documents. We will not respond to
request for follow up for cases which are within published processing time. However, if your case is
taking longer than the posted processing time, please contact us by e-mail.
Interview
As much as possible, we try to process cases on paper but if an interview is required. you will be notified
one or two months prior to the date of the interview. Please note that an officer has the authority to
request an interview for the principal and/or any accompanying family members.
Interpreters must be arranged in advance for anyone who will be interviewed and who is unable to
communicate well in English, French or Polish. Instructions for the provision of interpreters will be
provided to you prior to your interview appointment.
Let us know
If your circumstances change you have to let us know (see address, fax number and email address below).
More particularly, we want to know about a:
 Change in family composition including new born, divorce, marriage etc;
 Change of address, including change of e-mail address;
 Change of immigration representative;
 Request for withdrawal of your application;
 For Skilled workers only: Submission of an Arranged Employment Opinion approved by
Human Resources Development Canada.
Prepare yourself for immigration to Canada
Your application has just been received at visa office and some months will probably pass before you
know the final decision on your application. We nonetheless encourage you to use these months to gather
information on Canada.
One of your first steps should be to begin researching potential employment in Canada. Most occupations
in Canada are not regulated. For those occupations, the employer is responsible for assessing and
recognizing your qualifications.
However, some occupations are regulated and do not permit persons to practice without a license. To
obtain a license to practice a regulated occupation, you must go through an assessment and an acceptance
of your education and professional qualifications by a regulatory body. This assessment will compare
your training, education and experience to Canadian requirements. This assessment will also help
determine whether further training and evaluation may be needed before you acquire a license to practice
your occupation in Canada.
In partnership with Service Canada, the Foreign Credentials Referral Office (FCRO) provides
information and referrals. You can find more information on the FCRO Web site at:
www.credentials.gc.ca. Clients in Canada can call 1-888-854-1805 or the Service Canada general
enquiries number at 1-800-O-Canada (1-800-622-6232) for more information. Clients in Canada can also
obtain in-person service at Service Canada Centers.
The Going to Canada Internet site (at www.directioncanada.gc.ca) has important information about living
and working in Canada as well as the “Working in Canada Tool” which will tell you what the
current
prospects are for your occupation across Canada. It offers information on essential skills, job descriptions,
work conditions and opportunities. It will also tell you whether your occupation is a regulated
profession
in Canada.

We trust that this information is helpful.

Hi everyone & happy new year! Sending positive vibes to everyone on this journey. I hope 2023 is the year you’re with your loved ones permanently! :)

My husband and I have an Outland spousal paper application with a representativewere told the file was sent on September 11th. No AOR yet.

I contacted my local MP in Brampton to reach out to IRCC last week. They said it’ll take two weeks to get back to me with an update.

I was eager to know what’s going and called IRCC at 7:55 am on Friday through the TextNow app (currently in the US) and was told no application is in the system with our information. They asked for names, birthdays and county of birth for us both. The IRCC agent said to call back with the tracking number, so they can put an inquiry to the office in charge.

Yesterday on Reddit I saw for the first time that after September 23rd, IRCC is only accepting online applications. So now this weekend is feeling excruciatingly long. We’re waiting to hear back from our lawyer on Monday about the tracking information and if we made the cut-off or not. Hopefully I can get that information and get a hold of IRCC again on Tuesday.

I came across this thread and there’s hope when you know someone else is on the same boat as you! I will post updates when I have them and hoping some of you hear back this week with your AOR!

Hello Safi and Grewal, I am in the same situation as you 2, my paper application was received October 4 in their mailroom in NS, I requested a signature upon delivery so I know they received it and I would expect them to return the package right away if they didn't accept that anymore. Even if the limit for paper application was September 23rd I would expect that they have some kind of buffer after that date.

Their office is closed for a while during holidays so it may take a little more time until we receive AOR.
Let's hope that in January we receive our AOR, best of luck to us.

Our first app was returned 10 months after our online submission with no AOR and it was their screw up because they routed our outland app to their inland office.
