The answer to your question is in the instructions under the "Your spouse or partner hasn’t applied for permanent residence yet" sub-section.

Hi evenryone,

I read the post about to apply for a spouse open work permit in Canada, and have some issues with this.
https://ircc.canada.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=1163&top=17

I am wondering if I can conclude the work permit application same time when submitting the spouse sponsorship application online or have to wait for the AOR as the link mentioned and submit the work permit application package online.
If you apply online you have to wait until after AOR.

Thank you, but when I read about the guide, which mentions that we can include the form imm5710e together. So that's why I got confused about those.
That's with paper applications. Unfortunately the guide is still only for the paper application and does not reflect the new online process at all.

Hi @EloiseMann , I see a section under open work permit which asks about NOC, is that the NOC for Spouse/Principal Applicant?
I am a PR holder and my husband's inland application is filed and he is staying in Canada under visitor visa

Where are you looking? The paper application doesn't ask for NOC, and I'm not familiar with the online one but I'd be surprised if it was that different?

I don't think you're filling out the correct form. Are you sure you got form IMM 5710 and the last update from April 2022?

Thanks a lot!
Will the online application will receive AOR sooner than paper?
If this is the case, which method you would recommend using for the submission if need to apply for the open work permit?

Thanks for the update both of You, I think I was looking into a different form. Did You upload the document checklist in addition?
Also, I dont see an option for upfront payment for SOWP for attaching a receipt, shall we just go ahead and Transmit and Pay instead?

I have another question, do we need to fill in 5257 Schedule 1 on my SOWP application, if applying inland?
I see it under Optional Document.
Appreciate any response!

Of course, I don't have access to all the information, it's just based on what I've seen. But from what I've seen, if you want the OWP, paper is a better option. Online applicants have to wait for AOR first, and many of them seem to be waiting 4-5 months for the AOR, while paper has been getting AOR pretty quickly, and then OWP within the pre-COVID times of 3-4 months. But, unfortunately, paper won't be an option starting September 23rd, so you'd have to submit before then. If you need maintained status, the paper application is probably a better as you can't benefit from maintained status until the OWP is submitted.

We wanted the OWP so we applied on paper.

If you look at the checklist for the work permit application, you'll see that you need to pay upfront if you'll apply on paper for the OWP. If you apply for the OWP online (which I believe is possible according to the instructions on the website), I believe you have to pay for the WP and OWP fees online.

I think this depends on your country of citizenship. Check the online tool to apply and it will provide you with the checklist of documents and forms to submit.

Hi Experienced Members,

This is in regards to the spousal application(inland) of my Spouse. In order to process the Open Work Permit, we submitted the Upfront Medical Examination(e-medical sheet), few days later IRCC requested for the Medicals via IMM1017 form.

My concern is I have submitted the OWP application with the Upfront medical sheet, what shall I now do in order to have the medicals completed for spousal pr?
