Hi there,
a friend of mine entered in Canada last Friday. She has a student visa and her partner has a work permit. They have a 11 years old child and the immigration officer gave a visitor visa for 3 months for the child. Pretty weird, right?

They are a little bit lost and very worried. I told them to call IRCC but nobody is picking the phone up. Do you have any advise for them?

thanks people

Did they apply for a study permit for the child? If the child is of school age then it is required that they apply for the study permit.
The way forward would ideally be to apply for a study permit for the child. Consult an immigration lawyer if needed.

Hi there, thanks a lot for your answer. They could not apply for the child study permit. They had some issues when they were outside of Canada. The IRCC website either gets to errors or end up somewhere that is dead end. They have an appointment with a immigration adviser, but, you know, just in case somebody was in the same situation.

Regards,

They don’t need to pay for an immigration consultant. They need to apply for a study permit for their child if their child is between 4-18 years old. They can do so on their own and should do so as soon as possible. In some provinces they will need to show the study permit to attend school.

Don't waste money on an agent. Just apply for the study permit.

Its not weird, its because they did not apply for study permit for 11yrs old child. Only exemption is for the child before turning 6yrs only. Usually issued and can go to School with Visitor-Case 10 document. they were given three months to send an application. School opens in September, they dont have enough time

I don't know (IDK) if these are the same, but the dead ends and errors started with the web browser Firefox two to three months ago, Chrome works fine, IDK about other browsers.
