i actually saw few june files- upto 8th - both SDS and Non SDS- yes deferring seems likely .. that too till may for me! jan intake is already closed in my college
If I dont get the permit, I'd have to wait an entire year to join the course I chose. Since only Sep intake is available. Or change plans completely.
Will IRCC process June files in time? I hope so

June applications have not started yet, still May applications is going.. other thing is that it will take another 15 days to get the passport stamped, its already 10th now... my classes are starting from 1st Sept. I am now thinking if I defer for next fall, do I again have to apply for SP or raising a webform and informing them will do.

Talk to your college , they might be able to help. As long as you receive the PPR in August it should be good.

Hi,
I was forced by the university to defer my admission to Fall 2023 because I did not have my visa in hand on August 7th (their deadline for deferral).
Can someone guide me on how to go about with the visa process now?
I submitted my file on May 20th & had a medical update on Aug 8th. I have a feeling I should be getting my visa in the next few days and I need to inform IRCC about the deferral before that.
I read somewhere that I need to send IRCC my updated LOA (that I have already received from my university) through a webform.
Is that it or do I need to do something more?
If anyone with an idea about this can help me with it, I would highly appreciate it.
Thanks

Anyone with a combined application (student visa + sowp) who has got their decision? One of my friends told me that IRCC is ignoring combined applications and only focusing on single applications. Is it true?
I would easily believe in that since I've seen a lot of couples in recent months who have been waiting for 20-30 weeks or more

For our family SP, SOPW and SP Minor, we submitted our SDS application last May 4th. Medicals were updated July 8th and 21st and nothing after that.

School starts on Sept 6 so we have decided to defer already to Jan Intake as the timelines are near impossible already and plane fares are sky high.

14th week of waiting already for us.

I wonder why my consultant suggested me to apply as a combined application in the first place saying that it almost takes the same time as the single application.

so it takes longer than normal ones ?
Don't believe them.. they just say things to show their credibility as an expert. A reputed consultant I know told me to file under SDS, and when the results were not coming as expected, infact its the otherway round, my consultant has now chanced the stand saying "I told you to file under non-SDS.." . .. so you cannot believe them.. I am happy I have not taken any consultant service and did my own research.
Now I know more than that consultant .. filing or not filing under SDS is what ircc decides based on the input and that filing under SDS is the right thing to do.

Under normal circumstances, according to IRCC, family applications take the same time to process, even under SDS. However, this year is not a normal situation. And also, pay attention to the notice on IRCC website that says that they prioritize Work Permits for essential workers and other types of work permits would have to wait more than 21 weeks (at least this is the timeline for China, for India I think it's more, please, check the IRCC website). So, I'm guessing that if you have a spouse who is applying for the OWP, he or she falls under this category of "non-essential" workers these days. But these days only.
