For people who's first name is XXX on Canadian passport and blank on Indian passport, on OCI form do you leave first name blank or type XXX? Anyone who had similar situation please share how it went for you.

People (whom i know have similar case) have changed their names to have their first name, middle name and last name in Canada and then apply for OCI with name change certificates.

In my case, I had my whole name in the surname field in the citizenship certificate (everything in the given name field in in indian passport). I legally changed my name (spitted into given name and surname) through provincial name change process before applying for the passport (In Ontario, the process will take approximately two months and another two weeks to get the updated IDs).

I have seen similar queries before in this thread where they didn't change the name (posted one of the link below). I think they used an affidavit but it is not very clear from the post if they left the given name field blank or put "XXX"!

Did a walk in for OCI at Brampton BLS last week. Initially stood in a wrong queue at building 60, later moved to 40, what a wait.
Wanted to check with you guys, notices there said COPR is needed. I did not upload mine on the portal and the staff said it is fine. I hope it is not sent back. What is the procedure if it is sent back/asked for Copr later?

Hope so. Monday is a holiday and I doubt BLS might delay unless they send couriers on Saturdays. Does BLS send a courier on Saturday?

It will show up on Purolator with your application ID CANTXXXXXXXX only after its out for delivery on the truck

Question for travelers to India on Entry Visa, what is the vaccination policy currently, do kids need to be vaccinated to enter India? What about USA, i have a transit halt in US, do kids need vaccination for transit?

Anyone recently visited BLS Montreal as walk in like early morning 6-7am?
My point is if we don't have an appointment, can we still submit an OCI application with them by walking in?

& the status on BLS portal is now "(Passport ready For Dispatch after OCI stamping) "

@CanEuro I submitted my application for OCI last week. You do not need any affidavit or anything. You just need to fill the online application using same information as in your current Canadian passport i.i. First Name as "XXX" and your Surname name as in your passport.

I applied for Indian Visa in Feb 2022, I did the same for that Visa application. I got visa without any issues.

@plzhelpme Yes, BLS Montreal is accepting walk-in applicants. But just make sure to go around 6-6:30 in the morning else you will be waiting there for 4 to 5 hours.

It is better to go visit BLS instead of using courier services as when you visit BLS to submit your application they are not keeping any of the original documents, they will return them to you right away. Whereas when using courier service, you need to send original documents.

Did they print "XXX" as your given name in Indian visa too? and your flight ticket has also "XXX" as your given name?
