I got admission in fanshawe college for jan 2022. I applied for my SP on nov 13, 2021. Then I got admission in concordia university for jan 2022 but I deferred it it sept 2022. I mailed to fanshawe for refund and they asked for withdrawal confirmation from IRCC. I sent a web form to withdraw my SP application on feb 3,2022. But my visa got processed and i got a message that my visa application is approved and should send original passport for finalization within 30 days ( till 30/3/2022). My query is
1. Can i change my institution in the old SP or should i apply for a new study permit.
2. If I apply for new study permit what will happen to the old one will it get refused automatically and will it affect my next SP decison?
3. Will I get refund from fanshawe if i say that I change institution ( I have CAQ and offer letter from concordia)
4. Can I send the passport for stamping now..the permit is valid only till sept..bcoz the previous course is 1year and the second course in concordia is 2 year..

Kindly help me if you have any idea about this..

1. You need a new study permit.
2. It will not be cancelled and no impact on new SP
3. Talk to Fanshawe. All schools have refund policies which you may or may not meet.
4. You could but you aren’t going to Fanshawe.

Thank you so much.. as you said I'll apply for a new study permit. Shall I send a withdrawal request again for the previous visa application via web form?
kindly help with a little more clarity regarding the 4th point... in the PPR letter, it was mentioned that if the passport didn't reach the visa office within march 31,2022 the visa will be denied. many VISA consultancies said that if the visa gets rejected after PPR it will surely affect the next SP decision

Thank you once again..

You have an approved SP so you can’t withdraw it. You just will not use it. Not sure about stamping.

  • You need to send your passport for stamping, as it's already been issued.
  • You should go ahead and re-apply for another study permit with your new LOA, regardless. This will be a fresh application (answer all questions like you have never applied for an SP before). Submit all required documents again.
  • Include a new SOP indicating why you wish to change your DLI and/or course.
  • Once your new SP is approved, previous SP and TRV will be cancelled.

@wonderbly - is it for sure that we will have to submit our passport for the already approved visa? I am actually in the same boat as @Aravind1998 . I also read through your earlier posts as well about DLI change and the new SP application. The OPR for my previous study visa approval said that if you don't submit the passport, the application will be 'refused'. Now that @Aravind1998 says that refusal will impact new SP application, I am a little concerned on what to do. :(

You should avoid a refusal as much as possible as it negatively impacts any application you make going forward (you will need to keep answering YES to the refusal statutory questions going forward).

My advice is still to send in your passports for stamping.

In a hypothetical situation, in case the new SP gets refused, what happens to the previously approved SP? Can we still travel on that? Just wondering.

Hi, I'm in the same situation as well. I have a study visa approval for University of Manitoba. Though I have submitted a fresh study visa application 1.5 months back due to a change in my college, I wanted to check will there be any impact if I withdraw this second application and continue with the first approval (which was for UManitoba)? Would this be an issue? My second visa application is still untouched in case that's relevant.

How do you know it's untouched? There's no way for you to be sure of that unless you spoke to an IRCC agent. I'd advise against withdrawing your new applications as IRCC could have begun the process of cancelling/invalidating your previously issued permit.
