Quebec Confirms that Summer Intake Period is Scheduled for Skilled Worker Program
The government of Quebec has updated its website and, for the first time, publicized its intention to reopen the popular Quebec Skilled Worker Program (QSWP) for Canadian immigration in the summer of 2016.
Moreover, The Ministère de l'Immigration, de la Diversité et de l'Inclusion (MIDI), the government ministry overseeing immigration to Quebec, Canada, has stated that candidates who have created an account under the Mon projet Québec application management system, but who are not successful in submitting an application within the quota of 2,800 spaces for the upcoming application intake period, will have their accounts kept for the next intake period.
This will allow potential applicants to have at least one additional opportunity to submit an application in 2016. It was previously unknown whether or not the QSWP would reopen again after the upcoming application intake period, which runs from February 16, 2016 to March 31, 2016.
The update states that:
- Until February 15, 2016, at 1:30 p.m. (Montréal time), candidates with a Mon projet Québec account can access it to complete the application form for a Quebec Selection Certificate/certificat de selection du Québec (CSQ) online.
- As of February 16, 2016, at 8:30 a.m. (Montréal time), all candidates who have a Mon projet Québec account and who have completed their application will then be able to submit it by clicking the submission button. Once the application is submitted, a confirmation message will appear on the screen. The first 2,800 applications received will be processed. Candidates whose applications are included in this number will receive a message asking them to pay the required fees, online or by mail, within 30 days. The application intake period will end on March 31,2016.
- All candidates will be informed of the status of their application within 90 days. Candidates whose applications will not be processed will not have any fees to pay and their applications will be kept for the next intake period, scheduled for summer 2016. Candidates whose applications were not processed will be able to return to their account at any time to update their form in order to submit it during the next intake period.
- Note that candidates who have an employment offer validated by the MIDI, as well as temporary residents of Québec who are eligible to submit an application for CSQ, can submit an application at any time, except from January 25 to February 17, 2016.
It will be again be possible to create an online account as of February 18, 2016.
