“Citizenship Week calls attention to the rights, privileges and responsibilities we have as citizens of this great country,” said Citizenship and Immigration Minister Chris Alexander. “Canadians understand that citizenship should not be simply a passport of convenience. Citizenship is a pledge of mutual responsibility and a shared commitment to values rooted in our history.”
As part of this special week, a full 58 citizenship ceremonies will be held across Canada. In addition, Minister Alexander will be personally participating in a number of citizenship activities, such as the Canadian Citizenship Challenge being held in Gatineau, Quebec.
