Will 'US' and 'UK' experience help in job search?

Hello!

I have six years of US work experience and just over a year in UK. And all this experience is in IT, same NOC. Will these experiences help in dodging the "Canadian experience" question in interviews for my first job in Canada? I have a US Masters degree as well.

This is my understanding and others can feel free to contradict me.

1. Direct recruiters from Canadian employers want good candidates with verifiable experience from reputed companies. If you worked for Microsoft in India then I bet Canadian employers will consider it at par with any company from Canada.

2. Indirect recruiters like Recruiting agencies and Staffing agencies will play "you do not have Canadian experience" game with you to bring down your price. This way they will get more commission/cut.

If you consider yourself good and know that your skill set is in demand then do some research before hitting job market and set a price range for yourself. Stick it to initially and then adjust it after getting "ground" understanding of the market.
