Greetings,

In July 2023, we relocated to Canada, yet we remain uncertain about how to proceed with obtaining a diagnosis for our child. Any guidance on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Where do you live? To get diagnosis, you contact a psychologist to complete testing. You don’t need a referral through your family doctor. Or ask family doctor about next steps. You pay out of pocket but some of it may be covered by your private health insurance through work (if you have that). Depending on your coverage, you may pay up to $3-4K for meeting, testing, assessment and report writing. Many psychologists have waiting lists or have closed their intake.
