Hello!

I need some help, please!!!

I already applied for PR (inland) on August 15th, and also applied for extending visitor visa on August 17th (CIC received it on August 21st, according to the record of Canada post office). My visitor visa is multi and 3 years (until October 2019). I came to Canada on March 17th => So the last day I can stay in Can is Sept 17th. As I said, I already applied for extending visa on August 17th (I know it was too late, that was my mistake, I really feel bad about it). So far I haven't heard any response from CIC that they are working on my PR application or extending visa application. So my question is should I go out of Canada and then go back to get a new stamp of extending visa?

Thank you so much for reading!
Any recommendation is really appreciated!

Hi

You are worrying for nothing. Aug 17th was most certainly not too late to apply for an extension. A person can apply to extend their status up until their current status actually expires. You could have applied today and it would be perfectly fine. You will have Implied Status after Sept 17th, so you don't need to leave Canada. Note that the validity of your TRV has nothing to do with your actual status in Canada.

How are you applying for PR? If you are applying through spousal sponsorship, did you include an OWP app with your inland PR app?

Thank you so much for your response! It just like I see light at the end of the tunnel!

1. For extension of visitor visa, I was worried because according to CIC:
"If you want to extend your stay in Canada, you must apply to do so. Check your temporary resident status to make sure you apply before the expiry date. This will be on your study or work permit, the stamp in your passport or, if you do not have a stamp in your passport, 6 months from the day you entered Canada. You should apply 30 days before your status expires to:

  • extend your visitor, student or work status,
  • change your permit type (for example, from a study permit to a work permit) or
  • change your permit condition(s) (for example, if you are studying and you want to change schools, or if you are working and you want to change jobs)."

I hope everything will go well like you said! I pray...

2. For PR app: Yes, I did apply for Open work permit at the same time when I sent my application of PR to CIC. And yes, I applied through spousal sponsorship. Thank you for asking : )

1. Note that they say "SHOULD apply", not "must apply". A lot of people get confused by that.

2. That's good. The OWP app also gives you Implied Status but it was a good idea to apply for the visitor extension as well, just in case.

Lol, thanks but no need :).
Hi there! I hope that you are doing well!

So I got an email from CIC to inform that:
"To continue processing your application, you must link your application to an online account."

And they gave me Unique Client Identifier (UCI) & Application Number, but I don't know how to sign in because this link show that I can sign by
  • your online banking login (Sign-In Partner) or
  • a Government of Canada login (GCKey)

=> So I just wonder for my ID that CIC gave me, I will sign up an account GCKey?

Thank you in advance for your help!

No idea lol. Linking to an online account is not something I ever did or something I've really looked at it, so can't tell you. There are quite a few threads on the forum about it.
