1. What status it shows on mportal website when police verification is initiated/completed? Does it still says passport application is under review?
2. Did anyone visited police station to complete verification? Or was it completed directly in backend

1. Yes. It's showing the same.
2. The Constable visited my house. It's all on their discretion whether they will come or we will be asked to come to thana

Any idea on what would be the backend status? (Don't have access to the application via inspect mode as it was created by BLS)

Probably related to police verification (no, pre or post)

yes, they will now decide which type of verification to initiate and the applicant will recieve email as soon as the PV is initiated

I applied for my passport renewal at BLS Mississauga on 04FEB2026.
They had to fix some things on my form so they completed my application from their account. So, I dont have access to my application from the login that I had created.

I checked the status on "https://mportal.passportindia.gov.in/mission/trackapplication" and saw the following statuses so far. I actually don't remember all the exact dates when these happened.

- Application along with fee was received by Embassy / consulate (05FEB2026)
- Application is under review at Indian Embassy / consulate (I think next week after 05FEB?)
- Application is under process at Indian Embassy / consulate (current status)

I tried the developer tab to see if I have any backend status information available but another user (thanks, very helpful) responded that I won't see detailed updated like other people do because I am not checking these details after logging into my account.

My question is, does the public portal update with statuses like 'police verification initiated', 'police verification complete, 'print initiated', 'print complete' etc? What is the next status update I am likely to see from the public facing portal next?

I was referring to developer tool status, they are much in detail when you login and check. The status you see on page itself is same as you will see when you login.
