    Spousal sponsorship

Yes, if she's lived in India for more than 6 months (which I'm assuming she has, since she's from India). In fact, ANY country where you've spent more than 6 months requires police clearance from the relevant authority.

    Spousal sponsorship

You need to provide DIGITAL signatures (not electronic ones) on pages 3, 4 and 8 of the form. Page 3 is the sponsor's signature, Page 4 is the applicant's, and page 8 is the Sponsor AND applicant. That's what they mean by four signatures. Remember they have to be actual signatures (which you can...

January 2024 - Outland Spousal Sponsorship

Yes you can still visit if you have a valid TRV or ETA. Perhaps mention it to the border official that you are in the middle of a spouse visa application and are just visiting your spouse. It shouldn't affect their decision. They are only concerned that you leave Canada when you're supposed to.

    Spousal visa refusal

What type of marriage do you have? Did you marry in Canada or in his country? If in his country, did you register the marriage in Canada? IRCC may have concerns there. Sorry but I'm seeing a few red flags here, on his side, particularly as you are supporting him financially. Speaking as a woman...

Question re Quebec form (after sponsor approval received from IRCC)

Great thanks for getting back to me on this. I am posting it all tomorrow. Even sending it a Presentation folder which is probably a bit over the top but there are so many documents (including financial stuff) to include. I doubt it will speed up the process but coming from a legal secretarial...

Question re Quebec form (after sponsor approval received from IRCC)

Following up on this thread I started from last month, Ercan, I wonder if you can advise? I'm now in Quebec and virtually completed the Quebec forms ready to post to Montreal. However, I'm not sure what to put on the "Ville" bit in the forms (where you sign and date and state the town you are...

    Permanent Residence Confirmation

Just curious to know, since my own sponsor (husband) is in Quebec also.. have you already completed and sent the Quebec forms (not just the initial forms for Federal immigration (IRCC)), done biometrics, medical, had background verification and been marked as Eligible then?

    Biomentrics call

No. It's just one stage in the process of assessing eligibility on the part of the applicant.

January 2024 - Outland Spousal Sponsorship

You got elibility and pre-arrival letter BEFORE doing biometrics and medical? This seems out of sequence.

    Working while waiting for PR?

Yes it's Acknowledgement of Receipt. As to how long a work permit takes to get, it could be a few to several months from what I understand. Also the applicant will need to get a medical done, so if I were you I would wait for you to receive sponsorship approval and your spouse to receive the...

    Working while waiting for PR?

Yes but only if the sponsor (ie you) has received the AOR and your spouse is given an Open Work Permit, which they can apply for when in Canada. I'm in the same boat (as applicant).

    Question about Spousal Application /TRV

Having a job is definitely an advantage, it would reduce your chances I reckon if the sponsor was on social assistance. Unless the sponsor can prove they have regular income from other sources or capital (eg inherited money, prior savings, investments etc).

Spouse visa application (OUTLAND) and Open Work Permits

Thanks for the replies. Well at this stage I'm still regarded as a temporary visitor so I would have had to book a return flight anyway - I'm playing everything by the rules when it comes to visiting. I'll just play it by ear. Perhaps a work permit will have been approved by November, (I will...

    March 2024 Inland Spousal Sponsorship

I'm not sure, you could always submit a webform to IRCC saying you previously accidentally provided an out of date document but have the up to date one now. I've never had to contact IRCC (yet!) about anything regarding my own application so wouldn't really know to be honest.

Spouse visa application (OUTLAND) and Open Work Permits

Oh just another quick question.. I do have a return flight ticket to UK in November, would they allow me to go back to my home country to sort out home affairs briefly and come back soon after that, or do I have to remain in Canada whilst a work permit application is being processed? Thanks...

Spouse visa application (OUTLAND) and Open Work Permits

Thank you, that's very helpful. I just wasn't sure as various websites didn't make it particularly clear whether it's just for inland visa applications only. I have the AOR.

Spouse visa application (OUTLAND) and Open Work Permits

As I understand it, with INLAND spouse visa applications, applicants can apply for open work permits, I was wondering if this also applies to outland applicants. I am visiting my husband (in Quebec) for just under 6 months a in a couple of weeks' time. We are both expecting the application to...

    March 2024 Inland Spousal Sponsorship

They will probably ask for it later. Also if you mean an AOR (Acknowlegment of Receipt), that can take a few to several weeks as they need to check all the forms etc you submitted were completed and correct. The AOR will go to the Sponsor, who gets their own UCI number, then the applicant gets...

    Spousal sponsorship

Perhaps they don't need so much detail, but I decided to throw everything I had at them and make everything as transparent and decipherable as possible so they wouldn't return my application. Perhaps because mine is an outland application and they need to make sure we are genuinely in a...
